Speaking in Toronto yesterday, Whitmer was asked if she was considering a run for the Democratic presidential nomination. Whitmer responded she expects to help, but she's not sure she'll be the candidate. Whitmer is in her second term as governor and is barred from running again because of the state's term limits. The latest round of tariffs from the White House is sparking mixed reaction from the furniture industry. Paul Garber with member station WFDD has more from North Carolina, which has hundreds of furniture manufacturers and thousands of suppliers.
The latest round includes duties on kitchen cabinets, vanities, and upholstered furniture starting at 25%. Pete Theron is CEO of the Home Furnishings Association, a trade group for retailers. He says there's a lot of uncertainty about the details of the terrace, but he is sure that if left in place, they'll drive prices up.
