What event and holiday updates open this Off the Rails episode?
I'm Reid Lutanen, CEO of the U.S. Faster Payments Council, and this is the final episode of 2025 for Off the Rails from the U.S. Faster Payments Council. Today's episode is a fun one, as we somehow convinced Mike Bilski, CEO of North American Banking Company, to come back on the show. As you'll hear, Mike and I will be talking about how Faster Payments' volume continues to grow for his bank, how Mike and North American Banking Company have long been leaders who invest in payments innovations that truly provide returns, and how our Minnesota twins could look in 2026. But first, for one last time in 2025, the headlines. FPC's 2026 Spring Member Meeting is coming up quickly, and this is going to be a special one because we are partnering with ePay Resources to create joint programming and provide an incredible opportunity for our two membership groups to interact.
ePay Connect kicks off on Monday, February 23rd, and FPC members will receive a 50% discount on attendance. And ePay attendees, if you're listening, you are also eligible for 50% off guest attendance at the FPC Spring Member Meeting. It's a great opportunity to interact with our members, get continuing education credits, and learn about the state of the art when it comes to faster payments. And even if you can't attend our full event, we truly, really encourage you to stay for the afternoon workshops on Wednesday, February 25th. There you can expect an interactive education session designed to help banks understand and navigate the rapidly evolving real-time payments landscape. Led by Sean Devaney from CGI, this session will be tailored for organizations looking at how to take advantage of the new real-time payment rails.
The session will break down the functional differences between FedNow and RTP, outline what it takes to onboard to each network, and demonstrate how real-time capabilities can unlock treasury security. operational, and customer experience benefits. Through practical use cases, comparisons with consumer payment platforms, and insights from global fraud prevention models, attendees will gain a clear, actionable roadmap for evaluating and implementing instant payments. This is an opportunity to build knowledge, ask questions, and prepare your institution to compete effectively in a real-time world. As always, you can learn more about the FPC member meeting and register by heading to FasterPaymentsCouncil.org.
You can find a link toward the top of the page in the banner, or you can click on News & Events and then FPC Events to navigate that way. The FPC and the Accredited Standards Committee have announced a strategic partnership to develop and deploy standards in the faster payment space. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to influence the way faster payments are applied to a variety of use cases. And in the first quarter of 2026, FPC will be holding elections to fill the seats on our joint steering committee along with X9. That committee will be responsible for developing processes and establishing the strategic direction for the partnership. All FPC members are eligible to run for a seat on the steering committee and to vote in the election.
This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of payments in the United States, and I couldn't be more excited to get things rolling. As we move into the discussion with Mike, I want to say thank you to everyone who's listening to the show. We have fun doing this, and it's even more fun knowing that there are people out there who benefit from what we're doing. The only thing we ask is that you share the show with others in your professional life. Help us grow the reach so more people become advocates for the usage and adoption of faster payments in the United States. A big change like this one requires a lot of hands on deck. Okay, and with that, let's get to that conversation with Mike Bilski of North American Banking Company.
All right. We're joined by Mike Bilski from North American Banking Company. Mike, welcome to the show.
Thanks, Reid, for having me.
