We welcome back from the Oiders organization currently playing for the Bakersfield Conference. or is Isaac Howard. Hello Isaac, it's Bob Stoffer. How you doing? I'm doing good, Bob. Thanks for having me on. Yeah, absolutely. Uh sometimes guys get sent down uh after uh especially guys like you that are higher end talents and got skill and there's a little bit of an adjustment period and uh you know guys aren't always very happy, which is not to say that you weren't disappointed you got sent down, but they're not productive. You got seven points in five games in your plot. Eight. Uh so obviously you're doing something right.
So how how have you taken on um the opportunity to play a lot more in Bakersfield and try to make the most of it?
Yeah, I mean I think first and foremost just having a good attitude with it. Um Obviously everyone wants to play in i in the NHL and stuff, but it's a it's It's a process and you know, I thought I came here with a with a good attitude and mindset and um, you know, obviously skin a lot more minutes Pog touches. Um, different scenarios and things like that have been good and um you know, I think I've been adjusting well and you know, it's been going pretty good.
Isaac, this is a completely different Becketsfield team than in past years. Used to be a lot of older veterans. There's a lot of younger guys. Uh, you know, Quinn Hudson was very good at Boston University last year. He's uh currently uh third in AHL rookie scoring. Josh Samansky, I think, is probably looking better right now than he did at the rookie uh in the rookie games. Uh is there a little bit of infectious enthusiasm when you got a bunch Younger guys trying to push their way up to Edmonton.
For sure, yeah. I think it's just a lot of guys who are who are bought in, doing doing the right things, working hard, um, you know, excited for games and and things like that. So I think that that's just a good energy to have around the locker room and I think it carries out to the ice.
What messages did the Oilers coaching staff or Stan Bowman, the management team, when you went down, what do they ask you to work on, uh down in Bakersfield?
Yeah, I mean I think the big thing was just um kind of get back to playing more more of my style game and um, you know, just log more minutes and um get more looks offensively and try to get my offensive game going and things like that and um, you know Make more plays and um hold on to pucks longer, things like that. Then um, you know, I think with with just more more ice time and and looks, you know, that kind of just comes naturally. Are you playing eighteen to twenty minutes a
game roughly?
Yeah, I I mean, uh if I had to guess, yes. I don't a hundred percent know, but definitely in that in that ballpark.
Who have you mostly played with? Who have your line mates been? Mainly uh Samansky and Hudson. So two pretty good guys to play with and it it appears from the highlights that you and Hudson have got some connectivity. You guys seem to be able to share pucks.
Yeah, I mean he's he's uh he's got a great shot and um I've been able to find him for a couple a couple goals and he's uh he's found me as well. Um come down the wall and things like that. So it's been it's been good.
