Hey, it's Bob Stauffer. I just wanted to let you know that you can listen to Oilers Now ad-free on Amazon Music, included with Prime. space oddity the late great david bowie on this the day in which nasa conducts their first moon mission in 53 years with artemis 2 this is oilers now i don't know if the orders are shooting for the moon or shooting for the stars but they're starting to get rolling and you're listening to orders now brought to you by our title sponsor world of spas bob stoffer in the 888 jed studios our producer as always is aiden gannum our technical producers today derrick scott and kellen kennedy and um We have also got Eamon Hashem kicking around as well. Oilers practiced today on the heels of an impressive 3-0 home ice victory last night over the Seattle Kraken.
Edmonton's won four straight games, and they've done so without one of the five best players on the planet. As Leon Dreissel remains out of the lineup with a lower body injury. Of course, he is currently on LTIR, expected back for the start of the regular season. Coming up on today's show, a complete review of last night's hockey game. At 4.35 today, from the Athletic and TSN, Pierre Lebrun for Riverside Honda and Skidoo. At 5.05 today, from the Oilers Radio Network, Rob Brown for our friends at Hughes Car Wash. I bumped into Darren last night at the Oilers game. And at 5.35, 100% Hockey's John Shannon. His appearance is presented by Legacy Heating and Cooling. And apparently there's a bit of a developing story in La Belle-Provence with the French-Canadian rights, the French rights for the Canadians' broadcasts.
And they're not quite, which this kind of amazes me that they're not making more money off these shows. Because when you go to Quebec to watch the Canadians play, everybody watches it on like RDS. So I'm a little bit surprised that this isn't a big moneymaker for them. We will tell you that the River Cree Resort and Casino hotline is open at 780-451-8800. It is brought to you by our friends at the River Cree Resort and Casino. You can celebrate the River Cree's 20th year with over $1 million in prizes through October the 26th. Details at guest services. You must be 18 plus. And don't miss Gowan with the Strange Animal 40th anniversary July 2nd tickets at the RiverCreeResort.com. I'm going... I'm planning on just you know just so you can file us away.
I'm planning on going straight through here until July the third okay, so there you go, and then I'm gonna head off to the coast for a few weeks at that time but My plan is that the Oilers have a somewhat sustained playoff run. We have free agency July 1st and 2nd. I think it's going to be very interesting. The Oilers are going to have some work to do. Last night, they had six unrestricted free agents in the lineup, guys playing for contracts. Some of those players are obviously going to get brought back. And right now, a lot of guys are playing hungry. The team's played hard simple direct hockey and it's resulted in four consecutive wins and what a story Connor Ingram has become this is a guy who lost his mother a couple years ago Connor is from near Imperial Saskatchewan Connor Ingram's mother and Chris Knobloch's mother worked at the same school together Connor went through a difficult and challenging time was in the
NHL assistance program. The Oilers have basically took a chance on him in the fall. Stan Bowman making a very under the radar trade. Connor did not have killer numbers in the American Hockey League, which proves yet again to me that it's actually harder for goalies You see goalies come up from the ECHL to the AHL, and they often do really well. And you see goaltenders go from the NHL down to the AHL, and they struggle.
How did the Oilers perform in last night’s 3-0 win over the Seattle Kraken?
And I think it's because the game's a little bit more sporadic and less predictable. And if goaltenders are really calm and measured in their approach and maybe not super athletic but are strong technically, that can be a challenge when you go from the NHL to the AHL. Connor didn't have a great time in Bakersfield if you looked at the numbers.
