Hey, it's Bob Stauffer. I just wanted to let you know that you can listen to Oilers Now ad-free on Amazon Music, included with Prime. Just before we go to Matt Tiamonte for contract equipment, the dummy hosting the show, that would be yours truly. Normally, we run NHL today at about 426. We didn't go to it, so let's get to it right now. For Elite Promotional Marketing, your local branded merchandise specialist, head to ElitePromoMarketing.com. Yes, I feel shame. We send it off to the young guy, Nathan Gatton. Well, you're all a good mom.
The Nashville Predators signing newly acquired forward Maverick Bork to a six-year deal that pays $5.5 million annually. The Anaheim Ducks signing defenseman Pavel Mintyakov to a five-year deal that pays him $7.2 million a season. Pittsburgh Penguins signing two players. First, Igor Chinnikov to a three-year deal with an AAV of $6.25 million. And goaltender Artur Shilovs with a one-year $2.8 million contract. and the Calgary Flames lock up their newly acquired D-man, Simone Nemech. He gets a five-year deal that pays $7.2 million per year.
Going to be really interested to see what happens in Calgary because, in my mind, they have a shortage of... Was that the Prince George defenseman? They got? Well, they drafted Carson Carrolls, but the guy they signed today was Simone Namish. He was the second overall pick in New Jersey a few years ago, and they gave up a couple number ones for him. McTavish here. Royal Pizza, go all in and try their new Lumberjack Pizza and Maple Chili Wings for the ultimate maple mayhem experience. Here we go. As promised. As promised, your assessment on the body of work for Stan Bowman. So the trade, the owners had a pretty good idea that it was coming down probably around just after noon. The story kind of leaked out by about 1 o'clock, and we had a pretty good idea of Muckamadulan and Zach Sharp might be in the deal. And then that opened up some cap space. So the first guy they signed was defenseman Ryan Shea, $4 million, five years, 35 points, plus 30 last season in Pittsburgh. Can move the puck.
What recent NHL signings are discussed?
And then they signed Freddie Anderson, a one-year deal, bonus late, $1.8 million in bonuses, $1 million base. They brought back Kasperi Kapanen, one year at $2.6 million. They signed Matthew Joseph at $1 million, and then they signed... Max Jones at like an 8.50. So what do you think of what Edmonton did?
Well, I think rabbit out of a hat. It didn't look good, I think, for Stan and the Edmonton Oilers trying to... move out from underneath Darnell Nurse. All these teams are, you know, hungry, looking for a deal. And, you know, they'd be wanting the Oilers to take a bunch of cap space back. And, you know, Stan needed the flexibility to get some cap space himself. And so he's kind of in a difficult situation. But he hung in there to his guns, I'm sure. San Jose was asking for them to take a bunch of money back, and he didn't bite, and I give him a lot of credit for that. And then things opened up. I like the fact that they got Connor Murphy signed. And Dickinson before, yeah. Dickinson, too. I mean, I'm less bullish on Jason.
Not that I don't like his game. It's just when you start paying that type of dollar value, you want a little more offense or I would. But you look at some of the signings out there, it almost looks like a bargain now for Jason. I mean, I like a lot about his game. and Kasperi Kapanen, I think that was critical. I loved the way that he played. He played in the top six at the end of the year. He's always, I had him in St. Louis when I went back there mistakenly to coach for a year. And he's got a ton of talent, but he always, you know, drops off the inconsistency. And I don't know what causes it.
But he's good in the playoffs.
But he seems to have that figured out now. He plays. There's nothing he can't do.
