Oh, well, we appreciate it very much. Yeah, well, that's the thing. Yeah, nothing like some July hockey talk. That's what it's all about. Hey, here we are. We're in Alberta. This is how we roll. This is what we do. This is it. This is it. We'll mix in a little golf, a little baseball, of course. Of course. Hockey's never far, right? That's right. Brendan and I go way back. Now you know him as a big-time host on Sportsnet. But him and I go way back to Shaw TV, WHL broadcasts. As you were hosting, were you in Prince Albert at that time?
I was.
Yeah, that was my first foray because I don't know if it was that no one else wanted to hold down the post in PA, but they let me go. And it was funny. I was, like, supposed to be the community reporter, and I would be at, like, Raiders practice every day. And they're like, the boss would be once a week on the phone. He'd be like, you have to cover other things in the community. And I'm like, I did. I was at Raiders practice. So I was, like, full time. I made it my Raiders beat. and uh and it was it was fun and then yeah i got locked on with uh whl and shaw at that time and uh and then followed it all the way to calgary and that's sort of uh my entry point but i think i mean we must have worked together for three years off and on like obviously the schedule would come out we would do maybe it was even more than that going back yeah it probably was but yeah this is why great playoff runs right together oh yeah
some amazing yeah the playoff action on on shaw was a lot of fun and this is why i'm not surprised you've had this success uh in your career because i could see it right from the get-go that there was there was a lot of talent and there was a lot of drive so i i figured you'd do very well and you have and and speaking of which uh give me your uh your assessment like ways that things have gone in in calgary this summer kind of give us an update here as to what has gone on with the flames
Yeah, it's been an interesting summer because I think, you know, I think everybody looks back to like the deadline last year and sort of the midway point of the season as a real turning point for this team. Obviously, they've moved on from veterans over the past couple of years. But, you know, I think, you know, last year really signaled that you know, maybe a true direction for where this team is, is currently headed and, and wants to be, you know, going in the future. You know, I think there was obviously Rasmus Anderson had kind of a target on him given his contract status for a long time, but moving on from longer term contracts like Nazem Kadri and Mackenzie Weeger around the deadline last year really seemed to kind of indicate, you know, a true rebuild for this team, you know, and I don't know that anyone's really actually said it as much as it's just been sort of let the actions do
