On this weeks episode of One For The Road I am joined by Kate Annetts who is a journalist, disability rights advocate and community engagement facilitator who lives in Brighton. In her early 20s Kate was partying hard every weekend and some weeknights when her physical health began to decline. She appeared drunk even when she wasn't (although she admits that wasn't often). It took seven years for her to be diagnosed with friedreich's ataxia, by which time her mental health was much worse and as a result she was self-medicating daily with alcohol. Kate is just coming up to two years sober and in that time she has completed a masters degree in journalism.
