You are very welcome to this week's Off the Ball with Stephen Doyle as ever, and I will be joined shortly by the two main men, Vinnie Perth and Gareth McLean. But before that, let's have a listen to what happened on Off the Ball last Friday night.
There's a lot of fight on the line tonight as well. We talk about derbies but both sides a draw is no real use here. Three points, absolutely pivotal for both sides. Yeah you're a hundred percent right and you alluded to it where Drada are looking up at Dundalk, Drada badly need a point, you know, they stay out of promotion relegation battle that they're in now at the moment. You know, Dundalk for their points need to stay at the top, finish the fourth at least to try to get Europe, you know, hopefully one of the top teams win the cup. Not quite by design, but it's gonna lead through to a follow-through from Morgan who's done brilliantly. Horgan across the goal, and they're out of absolutely nothing.
It's a howler at the back, but Duncus the breakthrough. Horgan simply did not give up and Dylan gets a goal in the Derby. Baggy now might break on this break and ball. Cuts in from the right hand side. Still go to Baggie, encourages the shoot, rolls the ball down the line. Here comes a shot. Oh it's pleased in from that. It's an equalizer here at the near post. He was a crowd crowd favorite. Should he have squeezed it in? That's the question mark, but he most certainly has. It's one-one here in the Loud Garvin. Chips on towards the backpot! Brandon Capner with the sandwich into the top left hand corner. It's a delicious goal.
How did Daryl Horgan’s performance shape Dundalk’s win?
It's the home side in front. Brandon Capner kicker ball. He's digging over everyone into the top right hand corner. Morgan again down by the byline, left-hand side, looking for some options. That's the club's too far. Grofowski in an acre of room drills it across and there it is it's 2-2 right foot of Horgan, left foot of Burns. It's a four-man ball for Draud United as Luke Dennison Watson as Horgan strikes! Darrell Horgan into the top right hand corner. It's a pitch of a goal and is that victory in the loud derby for Dundalk.
Listen, I think last week we we had 75% possession, ten corners to zero, twenty-six shots to five, and found ourselves two and all down with five minutes to go, and we deserve to be because they were better in both boxes. Um I'm learning, the lads are learning quickly about the the fine margins of the detail. Um and we were getting hurt. And to be fair, we were staring down the barrel tonight at half time have been hurt again. Um maybe it's Suited us coming in for a change with you know uh nothing to lose in the game approach. You know, in the previous games against them we've come in a couple of times leading and um this time we were the ones doing the hunting instead of being hunted and um maybe it suited us for a little bit and um I'm delighted a lot of firsts there tonight as well.
Like it's a first win since Tom has come to the club, it's a first win for for Igor, even Trevor. I know he came off a half time, a first goal for Keene. It's our first win in a Um it gets us up to forty points. There's a lot of positivity around it for our first season back and um I'm just delighted for the life. And
obviously I'm not sure if you had a chance to look, but Waterford one tonight at St. Potts as well, it's a tight tight situation right now, isn't it? It
is, and as you said in the virgin interview, look we're well used to it, like you know. Um I don't know what people's expectations are 'cause they shouldn't be, but it is what it is. We have to make the best of what we have and we've done a good job of it over the last number of years.
