Why is grounding and centering essential for presence and happiness?
Hey everybody and welcome to another episode of Mindful Mystics. Turns out we forgot June. You know, We just forgot. June. I don't know how or why we do this. Um, all I can say is that, you know, we're all north of fifty and and sometimes we walk into the kitchen and forget why we're there. And sometimes we just forget an entire month of podcasts,
apparently. Yes, we
were messaged the other day and she was like she was like, Oh my god, we forgot to do a podcast in June. I was like, What? It's still June.
We missed it still though. Oh my god. I looked at it and I go, Oh crap, we're doing a show. That's right. Oh crap. Oh good Lord. Well, you know, that that word you were throwing around before we got on air, the the word old, yeah, it kinda I guess because it fits.
Well, I mean, you know, all this is a state of mine, I guess. Um and and most of the time I like m I think like I'm still twenty five, right? Mm-hmm. Like I look in the mirror and I I see Me looking back and I'm like, Who is that? Or I'll look down and this is the one that gets me. Maybe Cheryl can relate to this. I will look down and I will see my mom's hands on the end of my arms.
Oh dear Lord, you just struck a chord. Oh dear God. Okay. And you're like, what are my mom's hands doing on my own? Hey, you know what I you know what? I I I had a realization earlier in June on my birthday when I turned the big Five five. Five five angel number though. Five five angel number. Okay, it's doesn't have to define me, it's just a number. It's okay to be fifty five. It's perfectly fine. It's
great. Actually, I actually look, I'm fifty-eight and I like it. I'm happy here. Sure, sometimes I forget why I'm in the kitchen. Oh. I walk away and then I'll be like to the laundry room and remember why I was in the kitchen. So I'll go into the kitchen because I remembered and then I'll forget why I'm there again.
Well, look, my daughter's twenty-seven, she does it. So she'll sh one time she went in there, she was staring and I'm like, What? And she goes, uh, I'm like, Yeah, all right. It's just not old. Woohoo Got nothing to do with A.
We have to work harder to maintain that neuroplasticity as we get older. Otherwise we forget things like months of podcast, you know. So that's why that's why they suggest that people as they age should do things like crossword puzzles and things, right? Yeah,
I heard about that. Yep. I heard about that. Well, I you know, I'm I'm hitting mine September. I'll be sixty four, so you know.
Will you be sixty four?
Sixty four with one more year in his retirement.
Will you still feed me
when I'm
sixty four? What's that? Isn't that the
Beatles song? Is it when I'm sixty four?
Is it is it really? I don't know. Is it Cheryl? Do you know?
I think it's when I'm sixty four. It sounds familiar, but I can't see when Google it. You Google it, but
I'm sixty four. I feel that fits just fine. So you know, yes. I'm gonna I'm
gonna I'm gonna call you on your birthday and sing that to you.
That would be p that would be wonderful, Carol. I will love you forever if you do that.
Because I'm such a good singer, as we all know. Yes. Oh
yes. Please
built it up. Amazing. You know, okay. I dance like nobody's watching and that's and that's terrible. I sing like nobody's listening and that's terrible too. But I'm happy.
Yeah.
That's
why we get along so well.
There you go. We should do it.
And one of the things
Mm.
Go ahead.
No, I was gonna say we should do another whole show on and just do karaoke.
Oh my god, that would be horrible for people. Nobody's gonna be able to do that. No, we'd have zero listeners.
We would have
zero
listeners
ever again.
Hey people like to watch car crashes, so you never know, you know?
You never know. One of the things that I think that I like about being north of fifty and that I've discovered kind of with every year that I've gone on past this is how few craps I have to give about a lot of things that used to really matter to me.
Oh my God, that's so true. Oh my God, that's so true.
I mean like the stuff that is really important still is really important, right? Yeah, yeah.
But the
