hello pokers and jokers welcome to another episode of poking around the podcast i like when we try to sing hi i'm zoe i'm hannah and we are both professional poets and amateur comedians who do this for you every tuesday we do it for you for you no we really do it for us for us because guess what we still wouldn't be doing it if we didn't like doing it Don't you think? Oh, my God. No, we love to do it. We love doing it. We love to make the podcast. Right now, the podcast is basically a load-bearing weight of our friendship.

Because we've been so busy.
Like, this is the only way we can – Like, really see each other.
Yeah. But it's fun because we basically, like, go to school together every week. We're like, let's analyze a poem.
And sometimes I feel like when you're hanging out with your friends – You often talk about like interpersonal things. And this really gets us into a space where we can talk about other things. Yeah.
It's like. And it feels so good. It should. There should be more space within casual friendships for us to like dive into a poem per se.
Right. You kind of have to.
it's like you don't want to be with your friends just being like so like so does anyone want to like read a poem right because it's kind of like a buzzkill yeah no we want to talk shit it's like right sorry it's like okay but what about this right well all these poems are perfect like a poem is like a gateway drug for talking shit basically right no exactly and we prove that every week on this podcast this podcast is about how poems are gateway drugs to talk about anything anything in the world yeah but you probably didn't get to talk about poems like if you ever took a poetry class in college i bet you did not get to do it like this no So that's where I'll just say real quick, we do have a new subscription.

We had like a pretty beautiful small group that for our very first one, it went really well. but it could grow to any size because we can just send y'all out into breakout rooms to talk about your poems breakout rooms from the pandemic i think a lot of people never stopped doing breakout rooms to me i'm like this is very squarely pandemic content i haven't really interacted with zoom since the pandemic But now we're back.
But now we're back. And we are interacting.
We bought a professional Zoom account for you guys. For you guys. For you guys. So come on in. The water's warm. The water is fine. This is a three-part poetry comedy podcast. The first part. Poem time.
Poem time. That's when we read a poem. We talk about it. The second part. Joke time. That's when we bring a joke, we joke about it. Joke about it. The third part.
This is called riff, riff, riff, riff. Right. It's called improv comedy. It's riff based. Third part, we both write an improvised poem on the spot in about five minutes based off of things that we talk about. So the whole episode is also kind of like a prompt episode. for us and for you if you so choose and everyone in our collaborative episode wrote a poem and they all shared them and they were all fabulous and everyone had like such different approaches and styles and it was just a delight all around yeah it was awesome a delight sandwich with delight in between as well yeah yeah okay okay well let's get into it
