Now, before we get to the story of the day, I want to talk about a note that someone wrote me on Twitter. Slater Radio is my Twitter account. This person said, in the future, Please explain. And here we are in the future. In the future, please explain why you said on your September 13th podcast that we should have peace and not be frantic because there's nothing new under the sun. I didn't just say it on the September 3rd podcast.
I said literally every single podcast. This person says, for me, thinking that we are repeating the same cycles of darkness and depravity is cause for great concern. That is a wonderful question. Thank you for asking it. And I'll do the best I can to answer that. But let's just reflect on that for a second. It's really, really interesting. So I say, so we'll talk about a terrible thing that happened. And I'll say, man, don't worry about it. Don't panic. Don't be frantic. There's nothing new under the sun. And I get great peace from that. But this person's like, what do you mean? That makes me feel worse. There's nothing new under the sun, meaning we're going to do it again and again and again. That makes me feel terrible.

A couple reasons. First, I think I have three here. We'll see how it goes as I start. First point is we made it through. It's happened before. Here we are. We made it through tougher times in the past. And if we made it through then, then we could make it through this. I mean, just a very simple example would be, let's say there's a great recession. There's not, by the way. I just heard that the Atlanta Federal Reserve is predicting the next quarter's GDP growth to increase of 5.1%. That is a bonkers number. 5.1%, usually it's 2% or 3% growth. 1% growth is insane. But let's say we were in a great recession. Okay, well, we've been through a depression. Made it through. We'll make it through, right? Is that an okay example?
It's a very basic example, right? But if we've made it through things in the past, we can make it through this. So I get peace from that because it brings some perspective. We've been through worse. We can make it through this. Second thing is when you're going through a tough time personally in your life, the devil always makes you think that Not only are you alone, but you're the only person that this has ever happened to, and no one can understand what you're thinking or experiencing. The truth is a ton of people know exactly what you're thinking and have experienced exactly what you're experiencing. You're definitely not alone. Let's say you've gone through a terrible experience of a loss of a spouse.
You think you're alone. You feel alone. You feel like no one can understand. But there are spouse, deceased spouse support groups. And you go to one of those and the first thing you realize is, well, you're not alone. And that is the first step to a major part of healing. That's true personally. And I think there's a similar concept to our country and to our society in general, that we're not alone historically. We've been through this before. We can do it again.
