Please share your name and a little bit about your background and how you help SLPs.
Dr. Angelyn Franks 2:56
Absolutely. My name is Angeline Franks. I have been an SLP for 14 years, which is crazy. Sometimes it shocks me to think about. And I experienced burnout many times in my career. And I think a lot of that had to do with just not. having the right strategies in place and just kind of leaving a job when I felt burnout and then having this ripple effect of looking for the right job when I think I was part of the problem. But in 2019, I went back for my SLPD at Rocky Mountain University as health professions and I ended up doing my research in mindfulness-based app with Speech language pathologist. We looked at the impact on their stress after using that app for 15 days. And so that was kind of where I started to be interested in just different strategies.
Dr. Angelyn Franks 3:48
And truthfully, it was one of those things where I was like, what can I do for myself? And I sort of selfishly, but not used the time that I was doing my research to kind of look at different evidence-based. Just side supported ways that we can manage our stress. And so I really have only been on Instagram for in this capacity for about a year. And I'm have kind of spent the last year just trying to support other SLPs. I've done some one-on-one coaching, some different workshops and speaking at different places and just kind of having those conversations about how we can have more balance and how we can have kind of shift our mindset because I think there's a lot that goes into. Balance, there's a lot we don't have control over, and there's a little bit that we do.
