In today's episode, you will meet Heather Anderson, a speech language pathologist who shared her journey of switching from being a medical SLP to becoming a pediatric SLP to start her own private practice, to now seeing all ages through her practice, which is called Your Voice Speech Therapy, located in Monroe, Michigan. Although Heather enjoyed being an adult focused speech language pathologist, she faced challenges like productivity requirements that made her feel more like a percentage than a therapist.
These challenges, combined with the need for more family time and frustration with insurance battles, motivated her to consider starting her own private practice and led her to join the Start Your Private Practice program. Now Heather started her private practice to work with adults, but realized that she needed to temporarily shift into pediatric services due to local demand. So she put adults on the back burner, temporarily, as I said, to pursue pediatric private practice opportunities.
