Gina San Filippo is a speech language pathologist with a private practice in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She started her private practice on the side shortly after becoming a speech language pathologist. After gaining some experience in private practice and seeing the potential for growth, Gina left her school position in June of 2023 to focus on expanding her private practice. All right, so before we dive in, can you please share your name, your location, and the name of your private practice?
So my name is Gina San Filippo. My practice is Beisney speech therapy and I'm located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
I am so excited to do this interview with you. I feel like we've gotten to know each other over the last couple of years. And I'm just so excited to hear your backstory and then also have you share with our listeners what your private practice looks like now and also like what it's evolving into. So before we kind of talk about what things are like now, can you please take us back to the beginning of your kind of career? And then when did you start thinking about private practice?
Yes. So first of all, I want to say thank you so much for having me. I'm very excited to be here. But when I graduated, so I graduated in the spring of 2020. Great time to graduate. And I was gonna be in the schools. And so I had done my like graduate placement at a high school. I loved it. There were no high school placements available when I started. So I ended up actually in an elementary school and got a little bit of experience there. And then a position actually did open up in a high school. So I jumped over to the high school setting and I was there for three years.
