How did Carly’s travel‑therapy experience shape her private‑practice vision?
Starting a private practice isn't what it used to be. Today's clinicians are starting private practices much quicker, easier, and cheaper than before. And they aren't guessing their way through it or getting stuck in analysis paralysis, they're following a tried and true roadmap in order to save time, money, and frustration. There is no reason to reinvent the wheel or struggle to figure out how to start a private practice on your own. We've helped thousands of SLPs and OTs through this process and now we want to help you too. For a limited time, I'm offering a free copy of our private practice roadmap, specifically for SLPs and OTs who are curious about private practice and want to see what the journey looks like.

Welcome back to another episode of the Private Practice Success Stories Podcast. I'm your host, Jenna Castrak-Kasvon, and I'm so excited for you to meet today's guest, Carly Kloach. Carly is a speech language pathologist and the owner of Climbing Mountains Therapies in Denver, Colorado. Here's what I love about Carly's story. Carly didn't start out thinking she'd ever run a private practice. In fact, she spent years as a travel therapist during the pandemic. Across the country every 13 weeks, working in PEADs, inpatient with adults, acute care, even long-term care, and more. She loved the variety, but after a while she wanted something different: flexibility, autonomy, and the freedom to see exactly the clients that she wanted to see.
And here's the thing: she had had friends and family telling her to start her own private practice for a full year before she finally said, okay, okay. I'll do it. One of the things that I love most about Carly's story is that she designed a private practice with the flexibility to run her own private practice while continuing to do some PRN at the pediatric hospital. Two and a half days here and one or two days there, and the whole thing fits into her life instead of running it. This is a conversation about building slowly and intentionally, about what happens when you say yes to a furlough. From unexpected places, things like old coworkers, home health agencies, and even a patient's mom who turned out to be a website designer, and about why the SLPs in Carly's Corner of Denver all send clients to each other instead of competing for them.
If you've ever told yourself things like, I don't have a business background, or I'm not ready to go all in, or what if there are too many other SLPs in my area? Carly is here to show you why those fears don't have to stop you. So let's dive in. I'm Jenna Castro-Kasbon, speech language pathologist, business coach, and creator of the Start Your Private Practice System. And I'm on a mission to turn stock SLPs into successful private practitioners. If you're tired of dealing with high productivity requirements, high caseload sizes, and low pay, it's time to take control of your professional, personal, and financial life and finally get the freedom, flexibility, and financial abundance that you deserve by working with private clients in your own practice.
Join me here each week as I share tips, best practices, and inspirational interviews on the Private Practice Success Stories podcast. If you're a private practitioner or one in the making, you're in the right place, so let's get started. Alright, so before we dive in, can you please share your name, your location, and the name of your private practice?
Yes, my name is Carly Cloak. I am located in Denver, Colorado, and the name of my private practice is Climbing Mountains Therapies.
practice, by the way. That's something that we're gonna have to talk about. So Carly, we've kind of gotten to know each other in terms of, you know, you starting your private practice. And so we'll get to that part here in a second. But before we talk about what your private practice is like now, can you share a little bit about like your early career and then at what point did you start thinking about private practice?
