Jena Castro-Casbon 0:00
Starting a private practice isn't what it used to be. Today's clinicians are starting private practices much quicker, easier, and cheaper than before. And they aren't guessing their way through it or getting stuck in analysis paralysis, they're following a tried and true roadmap in order to save time, money, and frustration. There is no reason to reinvent the wheel or struggle to figure out how to start a private practice on your own. We've helped thousands of SLPs and OTs through this process and now we want to help you too. For a limited time, I'm offering a free copy of our private practice roadmap, specifically for SLPs and OTs who are curious about private practice and want to see what the journey looks like.

Welcome back to another episode of the Private Practice Success Tories Podcast. I'm your host, Jenna Castro Kasvon, and today I'm doing something that I rarely do, which is welcoming a guest back for the third time. Why? Well, because every time Vanessa Alcala has come on the show, she is completely leveled up. And this episode is no exception. Vanessa is a bilingual speech language pathologist and the founder of Therapolv Wellness Co. in Tampa, Florida. If you've heard our previous episodes, you know that she's one of our most beloved and refreshingly honest storytellers. In today's episode, Vanessa opens up about how her private practice has evolved in ways that she never expected, the pivots that have changed everything, and how she's using public speaking to grow her private practice in a way that most SLP and OT private practice owners have never considered.

Okay, Vanessa, this is your third time on the show. You have been a very well-liked guest who's had a pretty amazing story when it came to getting started in private practice. And then one of the things that I want to talk about today is really how your private practice has evolved and what kind of things you are doing now. So before we get there, for anyone who didn't hear your first two episodes, can you really quickly do a little recap of a little bit about you and how you got started in private practice?
Vanessa Alcala 3:26
Man, I can't believe it has been my third time on here. So much has changed since then. It's been quite a couple of years. Graduated in twenty nineteen, got my LLC the day that I graduated and was ready to hit the ground running. Started my CF in a skilled nursing facility. Global pandemic broke out. Two high risk pregnancies, but the first one took place during COVID. My grandmother passed away. And I was like, you know what? This is not the vibe for me. So shortly after having Luca, I went and opened my private practice, did some PRN with another amazing company, and slowly but surely built my practice. Once that was up and running, I was adult focused at the time and quickly realized the need for bilingual pediatric therapy.
