Starting a private practice isn't what it used to be. Today's clinicians are starting private practices much quicker, easier, and cheaper than before. And they aren't guessing their way through it or getting stuck in analysis paralysis, they're following a tried-and-trude roadmap in order to save time, money, and frustration. There is no reason to reinvent the wheel or struggle to figure out how to start a private practice on your own. We've helped thousands of SLPs and OTs through this process and now we want to help you too. For a limited time, I'm offering a free copy of our private practice roadmap, specifically for SLPs and OTs who are curious about private practice and want to see what the journey looks like.

Kate Glenn, also known as the Outdoors E SLP, is a speech language pathologist with an innovative private practice in New Hampshire. Kate has created a unique private practice that operates primarily outdoors, providing nature based therapy services for her clients. In this episode, she highlights the benefits of outdoor therapy to improve regulation and connection for both the client and the therapist, as well as the unique language tasks that natural settings can provide. Kate started her private practice after working in a traditional private practice. Practice for 12 years.

She also discusses what it's like to own a private practice while having a deployed husband in the military and three children. Now, I got to know Kate during her time in the Grow Your Private Practice program, and it has been so amazing to reflect on her journey and to the factors that led her to develop this unconventional practice model. If you've been thinking about creating an innovative private practice and or you want to learn about nature-based therapy, this is a must-listen episode, so stay tuned. I'm Jenna Castro-Kazvan, CEO of the Independent Clinician and founder of Private Practice School. First, I started my own private practice. And then, over the past 15 years, I've worked with over 10,000 SLPs and OTs to start and grow their successful private practices so they can have more freedom, flexibility, fulfillment, and finances.

I created the Private Practice Success Stories podcast. to share what's possible for you, your family, your clients, and your community when you choose private practice. We'll share everything from small private practice side hustles to flexible lifestyle private practices to traditional brick and mortar practices and everything in between. You'll meet regular clinicians, just like you, who followed our steps and are now living their private practice dreams. If they can do it, you can do it too. So let's get started. Kate, what I would love is if you could just start off, just introduce yourself and let people know your name, your location, and the name of your private practice.
Kate Glennon 3:09
Okay. I am Kate Glenn. I'm a certified SLP and certified nature-based educator. And I'm located in the seacoast of New Hampshire. So I have a mobile private practice, and the name of my practice is the Outdoor Z SLP.

I just think that you're one of the coolest people ever. Like I love people who are outside of the box thinkers, who are doing stuff their own way, right? Paving their own path, all that kind of good stuff. And so what I would love to do to start this kind of interview off is could you kind of start the beginning of your journey as a speech pathologist and kind of thought t walk us through what that was kind of like for you? And then at what point did you start thinking about praying the practice?
Kate Glennon 3:49
The journey's done wild. It's been wild. I worked as a speech and language assistant before I went to grad school because I didn't know that this is what I wanted to do. And after working in the schools I knew that that was not where I wanted to be. So I went back to graduate school and I immediately began working for someone else's private practice.
