What is the unofficial Vikings depth chart and who are the starters at quarterback?
Welcome into Thor Talks Purple Friday edition. AJ, we are only twenty-four hours away from Vikings football, Vikings Giants first preseason game on Saturday. Have a lot to talk about today, including a preview of that game. We're gonna start off though with a deep dive of the unofficial depth chart, which was released a couple days ago by Kevin O'Connell for this game. So we got a lot to hit today. How you doing?
I'm doing good and I'm I like you said I can't uh I can't wait that tomorrow is going to be a weekend day that I can wake up, ease in, and it's not the typical Sunday, but still I'm not gonna complain about a noon kickoff or a little preseason football, a little Vikings football. Um, and before we talk about the depth chart, we preview the the game against the Giants. I want you to tell us about our friends over at Ultra.

All right, now before we uh get to the preview of the preseason game tomorrow, we have an unofficial it's it it's the labeled unofficial depth chart for the Vikings, but it's a depth chart nonetheless. So Thor, I'll pop this up on the screen for the visual audience here on YouTube. Um, coming straight from Vikings.com. Starting off with the quarterback position. Your s uh your first stringer, Kyler Murray, the QB one, JJ McCarthy listed as the backup at QB two, Wentz at three, and Brosmer at four. Let's talk about the order there and is there gonna be very uh variations, I guess, as the training camp and preseason kind of rolls along.
Yeah, Chalk here at the quarterback position, based on the announcement that Kevin O'Connell had earlier this week, uh obviously announced Kyler Murray as QB one and also in that presser announced JJ McCarthy as QB two. We're gonna see a lot of uh JJ McCarthy in the preseason. I I think Max Brosmer, the QB four, we're gonna see him as well. Um, the question is with the other two, how many snaps will they end up getting? Um we'll talk about that a little bit more when we preview the the Giants Vikings game and what I sort of. sort of expect about that. But yeah, chalk at this position on the first step chart.
Uh, moving on to the running back position, this is the one that in it you've seen a couple other teams. I know the the Giants, for instance, all funny enough, also have this going too. But for their RB one slot, it's a dual it's a dual shared position. They've got Aaron Jones senior or Jordan Mason.
Yeah, I I thought this was interesting the the way that they laid this out, and enough so that I I went back to the depth charts that the Vikings had released last summer in training camp to see if they also had the ore. They just had Aaron Jones listed as the starter last year. So I I do find this notable that they're now putting them on the same line. Now, is that a surprise? No. I mean, we expect some sort of uh timeshare there uh to be divvied out, but the fact that it's you know just out there like that on the first depth chart, a little bit different than than last summer. So I thought that was notable. And I I do think that Jordan Mason is is going to be the Bell Cow runner on this team. That that's where I think
Think we're going with this, and then Aaron Jones with all the passing down stuff. Um, but then you get further down in the jet depth chart.
