And we're now almost two years removed, you know, like whatever, twenty-two months removed from a pretty devastating knee injury that I I I don't know that we all knew the extent of it kind of in the aftermath, but what are you hearing from him and what are you just kind of gleaning to being at all these practices? How close are we to getting a top five left tackle back in here for the Minnesota Vikings?
I think pretty close, Phil. Now, Christian Derisol is one of my guys. We share that Hopkins High School football allegiance. Christian Derisaw is a big Hopkins Royals fan. So you'll see him on the sidelines of Hopkins High School football games coming up in September and October. Not every game, but he has an allegiance, he has a connection to that football program, as do I. So C D is one of my guys. He told me, Phil, he actually didn't feel like he was one hundred percent until earlier in the off season. Oh so Like he didn't feel the way he revealed it to me, he didn't feel one hundred percent. Now I guess we could Glean that based on what we saw and him in and out last year. But really, at some point in the offseason, that's when he said to me, that's when I knew I was 100%.
He couldn't pinpoint the exact day or exact moment, but he said, Hey, right now I feel 100%. I know that Drew Rosenhaus, his agent who was in town recently, was telling Vikings officials that Drew was very surprised. Maybe not surprised. Maybe that's the wrong way to phrase it, but was very pleased with the way C D was moving the day that Drew was at training camp. So yeah, I think we are ready to see. Now we can debate if he's top five, top ten, but certainly is upper echelon. Certainly is to me the best left tackle that Kyler Murray has ever had. I think we will get close to that, I guess what it would be, September twenty-four, Christian Derisau, early October twenty twenty-four, Christian Derisau before that injury, late October twenty twenty-four.
And do do you know it's funny because the quarterback uh competition, which is now done, overshadowed everything. Not surprisingly, but I think this is one of the most important storylines that that there is. There's no knee brace now. Darisot's gotten a few planned days of rest, but it's not because he's hurting, it's it's just the plan, which is fine. Uh I mean, I think this is huge. Like, like, like you literally had to play just in school. Now, now new backup Ryan. Vandermark is going to be, I think, better than Justin School, but ideally Christian Derissa just plays. And you look at the amount of games in which the Vikings had to pull him.
