This hour is brought to you by Menards.
Save big money at Menards. It was something that Kellen Moore told us he was really concerned about with Kyler coming back. It gave him the ability to blitz him a little bit more. He saw it. It happened. They're running a screen, right? So you've got to watch Alvin Kamara. He's got to hold a little bit longer. Got to get a little bit more right there. You can see him pivot for the screen, but Spencer Rattler still got his eyes down the field. So a little mix up right there where that impacted the protection.
Unfortunately, that was Kyler Gordon's only sack of the regular season. He had two total in last year when you combine regular season and playoffs. This is Rahimi Harrison-Grody on 104.3 The Score, that courtesy of Fox. This is the eve of training camp as Bears reporter Mark Grody, our co-host, likes to call it Eve of Bears. But really, they started over the weekend. We saw that with the rookies reporting. But we get the news tomorrow, and that's going to be a big deal. We already had some news come through, and unfortunately, Gordon's status yet again on the pup list, physically unable to perform.
Yeah, allows teams to preserve a roster spot while the player rehabs. It would not count against the active 53 during the regular season. And Kyler Gordon, the lingering soft tissue issues, as you said, just the three games last year. And unfortunately, look, Kyler Gordon received on April 13th of 2025 a three-year $40 million extension. And he has never in his life, and it was never as bad as last year, he has yet to play a full NFL season. In 2024, he had 15 games, 13 in 2023, 14 in his first year in 2022. So he hasn't been off by a whole lot, but he's such an important player to the Bears. And as we have seen with Ben Johnson, he has not been afraid to express himself and maybe not demonstrative terms, but express his displeasure with guys like Kyler Gordon and even to a different degree Jalen Johnson and guys that he has not gotten to know because they haven't been able to help him a whole hell of a lot.
Yeah, before we get into that, I'm going to list the rest of the physically unable to perform list. Ozzie Trapillo is on there, no surprise. Shamar Turner, but is that somewhat of a surprise given how Ryan Poles talked about his timeline when he was last asked about him?
Well, I will say this, and he of the torn ACL, which he did in week eight, during the off-season program, we were all surprised to see Dio Dangbo out there. By the way, Dio Dangbo. Motivated Dio. Yeah, motivated Dio. You can't put him on a pup list. No, he's too motivated to be on a pup list. Maybe they asked him, we're going to put you on the pup. No, I am motivated to stay off that list.
Yeah, he's going to run from Lake Forest right down to the score.
But the feeling that we got during the offseason program on the days that we were there and the information that we were getting, the word was we're not as optimistic about Shamar Turner for training camp.
Well, and that just sets the tone, doesn't it?
Yeah.
And it was Clay Harbor who was in here several weeks ago. He brought up that concept of Turner not being as good after the ACL. And I have gotten so spoiled that it's kind of the time for me where if you tear an ACL, I think you're not only going to come back, but you're going to be... almost every bit of the player you were before. We see it in basketball now all the time, guys who are above-the-rim players. They tear an ACL a la Zach Levine. What is he after he came back, ultimately, an above-the-rim player? Takes some time. But that's the technology. That's how good it's gotten. However, the timeline was always kind of questionable. We were trying to figure that out. So him being on here... is notable in that respect.
Then you've got Noah Sewell. That's not a surprise. Keyshawn Elliott. And then TJ Edwards is on the non-football injury list. How? We all saw the injury happen during the football game. How is that a non-football injury?
Yeah, fractured fibula.
