I think, honestly, I'll speak for the crew. Relieved. They're relieved. It went from the Cubs losing 10 in a row and people out on ledges and trying to coax them back in to now Dustin walking around puffy-chested about how the Cubs are going to be sweeping St. Louis. It's just extraordinary the way these things work.

Well, I think, Ron, even on the afternoon show, Craig Council sounded like the streakiness of this team was something he couldn't really explain. And he's a baseball lifer, as you are. And this seems like it's one of those seasons that right now, to this point, you can't figure out how the Cubs have really come into the season complimenting Jed Hoyer in the fact that he built this roster. full of guys who were somewhat predictable, dependable, and professional. And then you get into the season, and they've been anything but predictable or dependable. But they have maintained being professional. It just hasn't been always the outcome you wanted.
Yeah, it is very bizarre. I will say, I don't think I have seen a team like this before, to be perfectly honest. I really haven't. They have played so good at times, you know, but... You know, as Count said, too, and I agree with him, during both of those 10-game winning streaks, you know, like the Cincinnati series, you play a good Cincinnati team. They were a little banged up. You know, their rotation was a little banged up when they came to town. We had two late-inning comebacks to win. One of them was like a 2-1 game. You know, another one was a couple big hits. So, you know, during some of those stretches, too, you were like, man, You know, you won the game, so everything gets, you know, pushed aside.
But you still saw some things going on there, like the offense having a little bit of struggle. But, you know, you still win. And the last two days now, you know, those are just two really good, solid just wins. The offense thumped the ball around the yard. You get two out hits. You got late inning home runs to ice the game. That's exactly the way you want good teams to play is what they did last And they beat the best pitcher in baseball. You can't say anything negative about what they did with Skeens yesterday. Winning that ballgame is a huge win.
Yeah, no doubt about it. And Ian Happ for the second day in a row, the hometown hero, hitting another bomb yesterday. I think he had five RBI when they finally broke through the 10-game losing streak. What does that say about the rest of his season? He did an interview with Zach before the game, and he talked about the back of his baseball card and how he's going to get there by the end of the year. And lo and behold, he's doing it.
Well, I'll say this. This is what we talk about in the baseball world when you discuss people's game. when you're a legitimate veteran player that has, that is in the middle of your career playing, you look at what they do year after year. And you know what, by the end of the season, that's usually what, what they do. You know, they, they find a way to have their ups and downs like everybody else, but they find a way to, to end up being that guy that, you know, is expected.
