What is the main focus of the episode and who are the hosts?
Rahimi Harrison Grody. I mean, I'm just going to make it happen. I'm a dog.
Middays 10 to
2 on 104.3 The Score. From here to Timbuktu and a lot further than that. All the way out to the planet. And yes, I said it again and I'll repeat it. Planet Pluto. There it
is. And I want to say it was also big talk on the afternoon show, Boers and Bernstein on the score as well.
Everywhere. Grobber was content for the whole station. It was a different score then. It was Grobber's score.
Amen. I miss weird score. This is Rahimi Harrison-Grody on 104.3 The Score. We are joined by Clay Harbor, the nine-year NFL veteran in studio. You can see him on CHSN, on the Chicago Elite, and the Big Pro Football Show. And we're going over the article that Dan Pompeo wrote, just a fabulous piece of journalism written in The Athletic, behind the scenes for a day with Bears coach Ben Johnson, where we've talked about some of his goals, wanting to be the best ever offense in the NFL. We talked about the regrets, like... not kicking the field goal in the divisional game against the Rams, his day-to-day and how much coffee he ends up drinking.
Six.
But it ramps up. He doesn't start with that. And then by the end of his season, he's at six and a cold brew. Like
the cold brew
doesn't count. The cold brew counts. That's seven.
We've got to get him in touch with Ian Happ. Because isn't in the intro, Ian Happ, five fresh pots a day or something like that?
It's somebody saying, here's a guy who has six fresh pots a
day of
coffee. Yeah.
It's funny, Hap is the least wired person I know.
He is the most calm. He
is. He's just on a perfect baseball medium.
And he's very young and calm, which is interesting. Usually that's you as you get older, not to start.
Well, you build this, you know, after you start drinking the coffee, it doesn't affect you as much. My mom is a huge, huge coffee drinker. And one day I'm like, Mom, how many cups do you think? She'll start drinking coffee as soon as she wakes up at like eight and she won't stop until she goes to bed at nine. I don't know how you sleep. I go, Mom, how many cups of coffee do you drink a day?
How does Dan Pompeo’s Athletic article frame Ben Johnson’s offensive goals?
She goes, cups? You mean pots?
Amazing.
I
bet she had little Folgers growing up.
Folgers in a cup. Yeah, it's ridiculous. Maxwell House.
It's
like water to her.
Well, the instant coffee game has really upped over the past couple of years. I'm a big fan of that, too, sometimes. One of the other things, guys, that I thought was... What I enjoyed about the article was I think Dan Pompei did the best he could with trying to take you inside the locker room. And then when he's going over the Tyreek and Stevenson interception of Caleb in training camp. All right, I'm going to do this. We're going to bleep it a lot. I blanking hate this clip more than anything, all right? I blanking hate
it. It's
not what we're about, all right? It's a blank play. He's not open, all right? It's a bad interception. And what I see, I see blanking 11 guys moping. That's what I see. Somebody tell me I'm wrong. Anybody in the room? The one, guys, that's closest to the football at the end of the play is our 33-year-old
guard. Love that.
Joe Tooney's like, why am
I in
here?
There
should be 11 guys in the blanking frame right now. Now that is the Ben Johnson I thought that I knew.
Okay, I want to give you guys a rundown of this and just put you in the mind of a NFL football player in a situation like this. So when you go to practice and you know there's a few plays that you messed up, You have a team meeting, right? Then you have an offensive meeting, and then you break off in your position stuff as a tight end. So if I know there's a couple plays where I mess up, I ran the wrong route, I just got beat bad in the block, you just pray. You go, first, okay, I hope we're not showing any film in team meetings when everybody's in the meeting because that's embarrassing and you're gonna call down in front of everybody. Then you get to the offensive meeting and they're going to break down just a few plays and obviously you're going to get more to the nitty gritty in your position meeting.
