Rahimi, Harris & Grote Show

Danny Parkins talks Bears' loss to Rams and their bright future (Hour 4)

21 Jan 2026

Transcription

Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?

1.651 - 23.664 Danny Parkins

I could do Stephen A's job, guys. Danny Parkins. QB1 party. All are invited. Host of Fox Sports 1's First Things First. It's a heartbreaking ending to the most enjoyable Bears season of my life. I was born in 86. I'm not there for 85. They went to the Super Bowl in 06. NFC Championship game in 2010.

0

24.024 - 29.369 Danny Parkins

But in terms of you have the coach, you have the quarterback, and they're going to be there for a decade.

0

Chapter 2: What were Danny Parkins' thoughts on the Bears' loss to the Rams?

29.389 - 52.701 Danny Parkins

This was so unbelievably exciting. The Bears, plenty of reason to doubt them. Caleb Williams? No. Former host of 670 The Score before he abandoned us. Jersey number one is going to the Raptors. Danny Parkins on 670 The Score.

0

53.812 - 81.118 Leila Rahimi

Danny Parkins hosts on First Things First on Fox Sports 1. Check out the newly expanded edition of the show from 4 to 5 p.m. He is at Danny Parkins on X. He also joins us via our Circa Resort and Casino hotline, CircaLasVegas.com, and he's on Twitch, twitch.tv slash Chicago670, the score. Danny, I guess we have to start with picking up where you left off. Number one.

0

81.098 - 90.371 Leila Rahimi

It crossed my mind that you should have come back for the Bears game to watch it against the Rams because you reverse mushed the mush against the Packers. Your thoughts?

0

91.313 - 104.892 Danny Parkins

I don't have a mush anymore, am I? Huh? Now you all want me there. Interesting. Very interesting. Turnabout's fair play. Not so fun when the rabbit has the gun, as they say. Yeah, I get it. Do you have the gun? Is that what you're saying?

0

104.912 - 110.38 Leila Rahimi

Everybody had to do the same thing last week that they were supposed to do this week, and it didn't happen.

110.967 - 127.977 Danny Parkins

Well, listen, with great power comes great responsibility, and my responsibility was to be here with my son Owen as he turned six on Saturday. So never even crossed my mind to fly in for that game. Parenting comes first. That's what we call a man with priorities right there.

128.077 - 129.38 Leila Rahimi

Little Owen is six?

130.201 - 130.682 Danny Parkins

That's right.

131.023 - 132.846 Leila Rahimi

No, he's not. Oh, man.

Chapter 3: What went wrong with Caleb Williams' interception in overtime?

538.546 - 561.111 Danny Parkins

I also don't love that he skipped out on the media, both right after the game and the next day. Like, it would be nice for DJ Moore to give his version of events on the play that ended the season, given what he gets paid and given his veteran status on the team. So my gut tells me, Marshall, that he plays for a new team next year. I'm with you.

0

561.243 - 574.456 Danny Parkins

Their words today gave me a little bit of pause on that. But Odunze, Burden, and Loveland is a very, very good core. It's not that he's become expendable. It's just that the money probably can be used elsewhere.

0

574.516 - 590.271 Danny Parkins

And there are cheaper veteran receivers who you could bring in to be the number three receiver on a team, but still the number one adult veteran in the room, as opposed to the $28 million veteran piece in the room. So my gut tells me he plays elsewhere.

0

590.302 - 613.474 Leila Rahimi

And Danny, you know, we were looking at the cap numbers earlier. Just to reiterate, DJ Moore is the highest paid Bears player via the structure of the cap, set to make $28.5 million next season. That's good for 9.4% of the Bears' salary cap, that according to SpotRack. So how do you see that playing out? You know, every time we bring up Max Crosby's name, that, of course, gets everybody going.

0

613.874 - 625.344 Leila Rahimi

It's like some sort of command where everybody starts trading and talking about it, but... I bring that up knowing that it has been brought up by other people in the league, those who report. How do you see that playing out if he's not here next year? What do you think happens?

626.448 - 651.993 Danny Parkins

Yeah, I don't know. Crosby is a... He is a bigger need than DJ Moore, obviously, and it would be very exciting if they got him, and he does feel like he would be a perfect bear, and so I would celebrate the move. I don't really know why the Raiders... Like, if the Raiders did a straight Crosby for DJ Moore trade, like... okay, so it helps Mendoza to have a veteran receiver there.

652.534 - 677.937 Danny Parkins

That I would buy on some level. You would need to give up more, and you would be giving Max Crosby an extension, and Max Crosby was injured, and I was also in his late 29, I think, for Crosby at this point. So I think that DJ Moore does not have nearly the trade value that Bears fans want him to have, is what I would say. So I think that, you know,

677.917 - 692.791 Danny Parkins

Be prepared to be disappointed if you're like, well, why can't we just trade DJ Moore for another star-caliber player who makes a ton of money? You'd be talking about attaching the 25th pick in the draft and then some, I think, in addition to DJ Moore.

693.111 - 710.134 Marshall Harris

And maybe, Danny, this is my hate for the Patriots, and I don't hate them in the traditional, like, I hate the Patriots, but given what happened with Bo Nix breaking his ankle in the last game and given where we are, I think the NFC champion is coming away with the Super Bowl this year. Do you concur?

Chapter 4: How does Danny Parkins view the future of the Bears' franchise?

1037.104 - 1038.326 Danny Parkins

Like, I like Matis.

0

1038.467 - 1040.85 Marshall Harris

This is the Janus skit, isn't it, in your mind?

0

1040.83 - 1056.21 Danny Parkins

I know he kind of hangs out with the crew, but he's kind of like Turtle. He's the guy who you'd have to give to, like, hey, it was Modest's weed. You know, like, oh, he's driving the car. He's staying sober tonight while the rest of the guys go out.

0

1056.23 - 1060.968 Leila Rahimi

Well, he's only 20, so yes. Hey, Jerry Ferreira got along with everybody on that show.

0

1061.389 - 1066.256 Danny Parkins

Listen, I loved Turtle. There was a point in my life where I thought I was going to be the Turtle to Nick Wright.

Chapter 5: How did the Bears' coaching staff evaluate the players' performance this season?

1066.837 - 1083.122 Danny Parkins

Some would say that I still am. But yeah, so it's not a bad gig, but the Bulls need someone to join the big three of PCA, Bedard, and Caleb, and they don't have him.

0

1084.098 - 1087.584 Marshall Harris

I think Modest will get there, but he's not there yet. He's not there yet.

0

1087.644 - 1101.87 Danny Parkins

No, again, I like him. I like him, but I have league pass. I have the ability to watch the Bulls. I do occasionally have them on the second screen.

0

1101.85 - 1105.796 Marshall Harris

I want them on the first screen, Danny. I want to know when are they going to be on your first screen?

0

1105.816 - 1109.261 Leila Rahimi

I want to know why nobody's Ari in this scenario. I have a lot of questions.

1109.722 - 1116.091 Danny Parkins

They're not anywhere close to the first screen, Marshall, to answer you. They're not close.

1116.171 - 1120.898 Marshall Harris

I just really wanted to know. Thank you for entertaining me with the answer to that question.

1121.439 - 1124.424 Leila Rahimi

Wait, Danny, isn't Nick Ari in this scenario? Like who?

1126.246 - 1127.368 Danny Parkins

Like in my crew?

Chapter 6: What are the implications of the Bears' young offensive core moving forward?

1231.719 - 1244.975 Danny Parkins

Are you kidding? Now, did it somewhat promote problematic gambling behavior? Maybe. Like, that's an argument. You know, we had a 12-year-old and a 5-year-old picking games against the spread, but it was adorable.

0

1245.115 - 1247.598 Marshall Harris

More concerned about Nepo baby behavior, but hey, that's just me.

0

1249.02 - 1260.746 Danny Parkins

Well, listen, I'm not giving him a show. He's not... Oh, listen, Marshall, you don't have kids. Here's the thing about nepotism. It's not good, but I would do it for my kid.

0

1261.627 - 1263.209 Marshall Harris

That's how everybody operates.

0

1263.249 - 1269.376 Leila Rahimi

We just got a text from 815. I miss P versus P versus S versus S so much. So there you go.

1269.396 - 1271.999 Danny Parkins

Yeah, of course. Of course. It was great.

1272.54 - 1276.965 Leila Rahimi

I think you guys are better than an entourage, by the way. We can come up with a new show.

1277.603 - 1289.839 Danny Parkins

Well, yeah, listen, it's just an easy comp. The first few seasons of Entourage were great. Joe got real bad late. The movie was a money grab. But, you know, what do you want from me?

1289.859 - 1298.069 Leila Rahimi

847 just texted it, I lost my house to those picks, you heathen. All right, so before it gets any more polarizing, we got to let you go.

Chapter 7: Why does Danny Parkins believe DJ Moore may not return to the Bears?

1860.86 - 1881.145 Leila Rahimi

We just stopped talking about it, right? They started to taper off. And at times where even you knew, like, for example, the first crew, Adrian Hill, I believe, the crew that he had refereeing in that first game of the playoffs, the Bears were the ones getting called for all the penalties. They only had, like, what, two for five yards in that game?

0

1881.986 - 1891.637 Marshall Harris

The Bears did a tremendous job, and it was annoying. You could tell how annoyed Ben Johnson was, and he got less annoyed as the season went on because they stopped committing dumb penalties.

0

1891.972 - 1897.958 Leila Rahimi

Yes. So that was a very good example. And frankly, that's also fundamentally sound. That's exactly what you're talking about.

0

1897.978 - 1903.324 Marshall Harris

It is. Oh, the catch part. I forgot about that because I was in that same. Yeah, they're going to be catching footballs. Juggs machine on alert.

0

1903.864 - 1915.957 Leila Rahimi

Yeah, everybody's going to be catching footballs. It's going to be like that, you know, the scene where the football gets taped to his hand. Friday Night Lights. Yeah, just perhaps not as generationally traumatic.

1916.157 - 1916.658 Marshall Harris

That was traumatic.

1916.678 - 1917.779 Leila Rahimi

That's not necessary.

1918.099 - 1918.84 Marshall Harris

Grown men here.

1918.82 - 1924.091 Leila Rahimi

Yeah, Tim McGraw was really good in that scene as an actor, but then I hated him because he was good in the scene as an actor.

Chapter 8: What are the Bears' plans for improving their receiving corps next season?

2229.884 - 2234.233 Marshall Harris

It's going to be up in the suggested because I'm going to start texting people. Unstomachable.

0

2234.494 - 2236.799 Leila Rahimi

Well, it's better than when you use the word defecate.

0

2236.819 - 2239.464 Marshall Harris

What's wrong with the word defecate? It is a medical term.

0

2239.544 - 2242.269 Leila Rahimi

It's just violent. Sounds so violent on the air.

0

2242.329 - 2245.933 Marshall Harris

Hearing you say defecate is on stomach. What if Tom Izzo said it?

2245.953 - 2252.06 Leila Rahimi

How would you feel about it? Also, why did he have to give his mom the extra six months at 99? My mom is 99 and a half.

2252.08 - 2274.308 Marshall Harris

No, you know what? I'm with that. I think the younger you are and the older you are, you bring in the months. Like 18 months old, you're almost 100. He wanted people to know his mom is almost 100. She's only six months away from 100. And I'll say this about the defecation part. He defecated on his own player's defense. That's exactly what he did.

2274.328 - 2281.419 Marshall Harris

He got to the huddle and was like, man, this dude is playing like fecal matter. I'm going to defecate on his defensive skills. That's what he did.

2281.46 - 2283.964 Leila Rahimi

Grody would be so offended right now.
