It's so heartening to see that for somebody like me who's been following this guy's career since we started hearing about him at Simeon. There's video out now of some of the pregame stuff of him with Simeon and dunking and the crowd oohing and aahing. And back then, the world wasn't as open as it is now. So it's like, oh, you've been hearing about this Derrick Rose guy? Oh, he's the best of the bunch with all these stars that have come out of Simeon. to have been the youngest MVP in the 2010, I guess 2011 technically, is when he got the MVP.

The big three to beat Cleveland in the semifinals, I want to say 15. And then just the fact, guys, do you realize that there was, I don't know about around here as much, that there was a debate over who should be the number one overall pick that year in Rose's first year. It was Derrick Rose and Michael Beasley. We all remember Michael Beasley. There were people who thought that Beasley should be the number one overall draft pick, which is crazy to think. And Russell Westbrook, by the way, chosen fourth in that draft as well. So Derek Rose Rivers run deep in this town. People are justifiably very protective of him and his legacy.

And the number one thing that I love about Derek Rose now is that when he was with the Bulls in the early days, he did not say much. He was not much of a personality. It was hard to get anything out of him.
