Has it finally set in that the Bears beat the Packers yet? For me, I think it was last night. I finally accepted it. Like, wholeheartedly. Because I was still in disbelief. I can't believe they won that game mode until last night. And then I was like, they won that game. They won.
Pinch me, this must be a dream. Mr. Anderson, I should have probably warned you. Yeah, you probably should, but why spoil the fun? Preparing for the show Monday morning, so I needed that second day to let it all settle in. I think that's when I was literally walking to work Monday morning is when I was like, you know what? The Bears are still alive and they beat the Packers to do it.
Life is good. Where I am is the adrenaline factor. It's like all day yesterday, I was still at a tent on my walk home yesterday.

We are looking at the Spider-Man meme to end all Spider-Man memes on Sunday when you consider the play callers that Sean McVay and Ben Johnson are, when you consider the strengths of these offenses, and frankly, some of the weaknesses of the defenses.

They ran for it on fourth down.

They went for it more often. Because they knew that the Packers had, especially over the previous month, dominated time of possession. That includes the game against the Bears in Week 16. So that said, you had a feeling, or Week 17, my bad. So that said, you have a feeling that you have to do this in order to be able to move the ball effectively. One of those fourths is going to hit.
You're going to have to use that drive because you don't know when you're getting the ball back and not because of your defense necessarily, but because that has been the style of the play calling and the drives that these Matt LaFleur teams had put together. So that said, how does that strategy change this week when it comes to the playoff aspect of it?
I think the Bears' strategy arm is good enough to where it supersedes the playoffs not necessarily affecting these practices. I think if you establish best practices, similar to what we saw there, deploying your game plan regardless, then I have a feeling that playoffs are not going to change it that much just because it's the postseason.
So I don't necessarily know if Sean McVay and his crew would change what they're doing so much so because of the postseason. Did you get that impression from the game against the Panthers last week?
No, I felt like they played it almost similarly to the way they played it against the Panthers the first time, and they lost that game, by the way.
Well, and math may have done them a favor there, because what happens, the more times you see a team, the more often the outcome will happen that the better team will win the game.
Yeah, if you play a team once, the team that's worse has a better chance of winning than if you, say, play the game 100 times and expect the worst team to win more than 50% of the time.

Yeah, it was Dan Pompei talking about what he would do better the next time around. And I do think he deserves a next time around. I think most people do. That's fair. He qualified for the job. The problem is the Bears qualified him, which I don't know if at the time that was good enough for the rest of the league. He did get to two playoff games in separate seasons.

So point being, it would be safe to say, especially when he went back to one of the most successful teams in the NFL, that he would get a second chance. So he talked about what he would do differently, which not a lot of coaches will actually come out and say. And I give him credit for that as well. So then he starts getting these interviews.
But then you hear what names could be available and could be available and then are available. Mike McDaniel, John Harbaugh, Mike Tomlin is tradable available. And what do you think is going to happen in this? Somebody's going to get boxed out of the cycle that wasn't available or that was probably going to be a big name previously. It is just like a depth chart, unfortunately.
So I wonder if he probably gets a job just based on the sheer number of head coaching availabilities there are and the fact that his odds are better being an offensive-minded head coach. But I don't know. This is a tough one. It doesn't have the same kind of luster now that we're a little bit later in the cycle than it had originally.
I'll say this. Matt Nagy was never on my radar to be hired for a head coaching job. Not that I have a head coaching job to fill, but if it was, Matt Nagy is so far down my list. There's so many other people I would put as a head coach of my team than Matt Nagy. It's a long list. You didn't even mention Kevin Stefanski.
