Good. We've had a busy day where, unfortunately, our Cubs talk had to move. Billy Donovan stepped down as Bulls head coach earlier today. And we feel like we're discrediting the performance of Colin Ray yesterday. Boy, did he come through yet again. How do you describe what he has been able to do so far, just filling in however he can this season?
yeah i mean super impressive i think um just just to start the season in the bullpen with an unsure um role because he can do so many different things you know he ben brown was up with us so he wasn't going to be necessarily the long guy but they wanted to keep him stretched out so he's going to throw two or three innings at a time and um to then fill in almost immediately You know, I think in his first start, he made it 60, 70 pitches. You know, he got up to 90 plus pitches yesterday. So to keep his workload up, to not be kind of short on that buildup is pretty impressive. And just the execution, you know, he's so good at commanding the strike zone, throwing a bunch of different pitches, keeping guys off balance.
And yeah, he's been lights out for us.
Well, I also have to ask you this because they talked about it on the broadcast yesterday. His nickname is really 36B as in an airplane rowing seat.
That's not a nickname that I've ever used for him. I generally stick with C-Ray, but I hadn't heard that nickname before.
So Taylor McGregor said it on the broadcast yesterday, and it was from Quentin Barry, because he's a guy who would be willing to sit in seat 36B on a plane.
That's, I mean, yeah, that's a good one. I think that makes sense. Yeah, he's just, he'll do anything. He'll do absolutely anything. And, you know, he is, I played, I don't know if people realize, but he was, Colin was with the organization in 2019, which was when I got sent back to the minor leagues for a little bit of time. And so we were together in Iowa in 2019 and He was actually the AAA pitcher of the year that year, was in Des Moines the full season. It was a very tough year to pitch in the PCL. I think he had like a four-something ERA and was the pitcher of the year because they had switched to the big league baseball, and it was a very tough pitcher's environment. But he didn't complain about being down there for the full year, wasn't salty about it, went about his job, and obviously went on to have –
uh good run with the brewers and ended up back here but you know he's been since i've known him he's been an awesome teammate and just just a wonderful guy to be around
