Good. How are you guys doing?
We are good. I would ask you how the weather is in San Diego, but I think I know. Are you guys enjoying it out there, at least from that standpoint?
Yeah, it's pretty nice. We're not complaining about it at all. It gets a little chilly at night, though, a little chilly, but not Chicago cold. So it's very nice to have a week on the West Coast weather-wise.
Well, after a wild game last night, we did talk about this in our previous segment. I feel like Alex Bregman, and you know this playing the outfield, very much got pet code where a home run ball in other ballparks is not that way even after moving the fences in in San Diego. And that went early, I felt like, to left. Really did feel like that was the case.
Yeah. Yeah, he got that one pretty good. That one felt like it was going to go and... And Laureano made a great play on it as well. But yeah, then say it hits one, an inning later, that actually does go. So that was a weird, yeah, weird ball that felt like it would have changed the momentum a little bit there. But then, you know, us being able to come back and Valley hit that big over was huge.
Moises Ballesteros, the way he's been able to do what he's doing, even though he hasn't really had this defined role because he starts some games, he comes off the bench some games, although it looks like he's getting more playing time of late. What do you think has been the key to his success to taking even a bigger step from where he left off from last season?
I think he's just a really good hitter. I think he's really good at it. His move is... really fluid it's really confident ability um bat the ball and staying at bats and um just put the ball and play hard i think it's it's super impressive watching what he's been doing and um some really good bats off some lefties recently but yeah i think the whole package um it's just a really complete hitter
Ian, I'd like to take us now to the Cubs' ninth inning, where it's 9-5 Padres. Here comes badass Mason Miller into the game. Matt Shaw with that roller down the baseline, that Ty France. As soon as it did go foul, he touches it, but the umpire said, I'm calling that a fair ball. And the boos were coming in hard. You guys scored a couple runs. Did you think you guys were going to overtake that game? And what was the crowd like? Because it almost felt uncomfortable watching it on TV with the demeanor of Petco Park at that point.
Yeah, the crowd was pretty unhappy. It was pretty good, just the crowd was on top of it and angry. I thought we had great at-bats in that inning. Obviously Maddie gets on base there, but Dansby hit a rocket on a fastball. um pete stayed in and at bat uh and and shot a ball through the four hole and then you know nico puts the ball in play beats out that ground ball um and then you know mason gets the last couple outs and that's that's what he does so you know he's he's pretty incredible and when it's a four run lead for him you know it's going to be really challenging but i thought just the quality of bats that we put together there
