Good. How are you guys doing?
Good. I think the mindset is, you know, this is a good Braves team. I feel like you guys match up well with them, you know, record-wise. This could be a tremendous series to watch just as a baseball fan. What's your mentality going into it?
Yeah, it should be a great series. You know, obviously they've played really good baseball to this point. Best record in baseball or tied for best record in baseball, something like that. So they've been a really good team. You know, I think we... I feel good about the way that we've played and it should be a great series. We're excited for it.
I'm curious, Ian, after a couple of games where you don't score any runs, especially after the heater that you have been on, but still 20-5 in your last 25 games, do you want the day off like you got yesterday or are you more, let's get back out there and do something? I'm just curious your own individual attitude towards that.
Yeah, I think that one was just, it was nice to get a day off. We'd played 23 games in 24 days on that stretch. We had 13 in a row, off day 10 in a row. So it was a lot of baseball in that stretch, and we obviously played great through it. You know, those last two games in Texas, Leiter did a really good job in the first one. DeGrom was DeGrom. He was... as sharp as could be and did a really good job of shutting us down. And so, you know, you tip your cap to that and get back after it today. But nice to have for the whole group to have a day off to kind of reset after that stretch of baseball.
Ian Happ, I think we, I hope we are in a safe place now. where we can talk about this, and that is your career best on Bay Street did end at 30 games. How proud are you of that, and how badly did you want that to continue?
Yeah, I mean, anytime you can get on base that much, I think helps the team and is productive. I think that... In those 30 games, our team might have won 20-some. We were really good. I'm proud of helping us win baseball games. I wouldn't say that I'm proud of the streak in any way. I wasn't thinking about it, I guess, is the answer. I wasn't up there going, man, if I could just... DeGrom wouldn't have thrown me the perfect up-and-away heater three times. I worked some really good at-bats and didn't get on base. That's part of the game. It's part of facing elite pitching and walk away from that day with three strikeouts, but knowing that the at-bats were a lot better than the results and kind of move on from there.
So, yeah, I didn't walk out of there sad about the streak, walked out of there upset that we didn't finish off that series and get the win.
