I we we have to admit, though, that we had a very dark feeling conversation in the first segment of our program today. Just about last night's loss, 8-2-12, and the six runs in the twelfth inning, a chance to clinch, pitcher's galore having to be used.
How did you take that in? And how kind of disappointing, just on a one game look was that game for you, Jed Hoyer?
Yeah, I mean I think any time you have a chance to to win that game, like got three chances to to walk off and we had our opportunities and and we didn't do it and ultimately I you know, I know we gave up six in the in the twelfth. I actually thought our bullpen threw great last night for a lot of innings and kind of gave us chances and You know, it's baseball. I think one of the things about our game is that, you know, you lose that game in June and it's okay, it's a bummer of a game, but you move on. And I think, you know, obviously I you know, as you get close to the end of the season, um, those things have much more meaning. So yeah, I think that um it was of course disappointing, but That's baseball.
You gotta you gotta pick yourself up and and play a game tonight. I think our team's been good at doing that all year.
Yeah, it I'm the same, Jed. I don't know that I move on from the game in in June as much as as September either, but it it is something to ask about because I know this is also a time where you're trying to figure out your playoff roster, you know, and we talked about that too. Is this an audition period for some players? You know, how how do you assess games like this looking toward what is ahead and then also your personnel as you try to pit that puzzle together?
Yeah, I mean I think we gotta play five games this week. I think that's that's the priority. And then, you know, I think that when you once you sort of lock in what's gonna happen, um, then at that point you sort of turn your attention to it. But yeah, I think that everything is gonna be noted at this time of year. Um, you know, how guys are how guys are are pitching, how guys are playing. I think it it is important. Um so it'd be lying to say that there it's not an audition, but yeah, I think we're we're paying attention. Um but really the most important thing for us is
