What are the recent performances of the Yankees leading up to this series?
Rahimi Harrison-Grody. That sounds so crazy. 104.3 the score. Wow, I like that. Middays 10 to 2 on 104.3 the score. And caught by Volpe, ball game over, and the Yankees win 8-3. In a place that was a house of horrors for the Yankees last year, they come in and they take two or three to the Blue Jays, and they remain in first place in the American League East. Great job by the Yankee bullpen, picking up a short outing off of Will Warren. A couple of big homers.
Anthony Volpe with a nice day. Yankees are good. They have won 6-7. They are a 43-27 team, are the New York Yankees. They're up by one game in the American League East. And your Chicago White Sox have the start of a three-game series in New York City against the Yankees tonight. Davis Martin against Garrett Cole highlights courtesy of the YES Network. And I think that that's where we should go. We should go to New York City. We should go to the YES Network because we have somebody that has come on or I think is going to come on the air with us despite Marshall Harris being here today.
Wow, that's what we're doing? Yes, Meredith Moragovic. She is the Yankees clubhouse reporter for Yes Network. Joining us here on Rahimi Harrison. Mayor, what's up?
Despite or because of? That's what I want to know. You tell us. You tell us. Because of. Because of. I like that answer. One of my favorite people in the industry, no doubt about it. I appreciate it.
See, I'll one-up you. You're one of my favorite people in life, so there's that. And we worked together way back in the day in a little city called Philadelphia. She has gone on to bigger and better things in the Big Apple. Meredith... Are you upset that you were not there for all of the shenanigans of the Knicks winning the NBA title and avoided? Or did you want to be a part of the party?
You know what? It looks so electric in the city. You guys saw the videos. I saw the videos. I was watching in my hotel room in Toronto, Canada. It just didn't feel the same. Now, I know people in New York are not going to want to hear this, but Marshall, you know, I used to cover the Sixers. I grew up a Sixers fan. So the Sixers parade and the Sixers, when they win, if that ever happens again, I don't have a full amount of confidence. I would want to be there. It would have been cool to be in the city, but, man, that was a sea of people. The city is still buzzing from it. You see so many people walking around with their Knicks stuff. This will last a little while, and then they are going to turn all their attention back on Yankees baseball.
I think the if is the part there that we hang on when we talk about the Sixers doing anything of – That caliber. Meanwhile, you've got a Yankees team that has a legit claim to being a World Series contender. And this is without Aaron Judge, who is on the injured list. Tell me about how this team is kind of rounding the form. They have the best record in the American League right now.
How have the Yankees managed without Aaron Judge?
It's wild when you think about it. There's obviously a ton of concern when Aaron Judge goes down, but this team is better equipped to weather that storm. You do not replace a guy that is a three-time American League MVP that can do the amount of damage that he does, but you do have to give this team credit for how gritty they have been since he's landed on the aisle. They're finding... some different ways to win with the yankees oftentimes people think home run or bust but they're manufacturing runs they're playing pretty good fundamental defense which we did not see last season all the time but more than anything guys this year the pitching has been absolutely outstanding and they're getting this done without max freed in the rotation right now they just got garrett cole back carlos rodon back a couple of starts before that those two are still kind of finding
their footing this season. But there's a ton of promise when it comes to that Yankees rotation. And with what's currently in the bullpen, they've been able to get the job done. But it seems like there could be some help from the minors on the way in the second half of the season.
