Chapter 1: What is discussed at the start of this section?
Breakfast with Gary and Tim. Morning, everyone.
How are you? Wednesday, May the 27th. McCafe Menu. Try McCafe's new drinks range today. She's been a big 24 hours. Kevin Sheedy, Essendon legend, is going to join us at around quarter past seven or just after. Lots to discuss with Sheeds. Neil Danaher's passing, of course, and also the Essendon vacant coaching job. Lean, clean Tom Green, the injured GWS star, is always a great chat.
Andrew Russell's in for Wellness Wednesday as well. As I say, good morning to the Wisps. Tim Watson, welcome to the Wisps. Good morning, Gary. It has been a heavy couple of days, a very, very heavy couple of days. Can we just lighten the load a little bit this morning for the first hour and maybe get back to something that resembles a ramble or not? I'd love to. I would love to. But you can't.
No, no.
We can?
Let's throw it open to anything other than Essendon, James Heard, Brad Scott, Zach Merritt, and anyone else until we get to it.

Chapter 2: What are the key topics surrounding Kevin Sheedy's appearance?
Because it is a massive story, and there were big developments overnight with Jimmy sticking his hand in the air saying, I'm in, and Brad speaking and saying, I said for Zach to go, amongst other things. Yep. Okay, we'll get to that at some stage. Because you had Brad Scott on one of the shows last night. You had the agenda setters.
And there's no doubt in my mind it would have been a pay gig and that's fine. And then they would have been thinking there's a very competitive tussle going on there between the agenda setters and classified. And then they would have thought, great, we've signed up Brad Scott. We've got the man of the moment. The first time he's going to speak about what's happened at Essendon.
And lo and behold, he goes on Footy Classic. He's on that show, though, isn't he? He doesn't go on it. No, no, no. Wait till I finish. He goes on Footy Classified and talks about the fact that he's putting his hand up to be the Essendon coach. That probably gazumped what they'd already had on the agenda set. So it was a big, big footy night on the TV last night. A big, big night. Yeah, it was.
And it ain't going anywhere. So if you're sick of the Essendon story... Maybe stay with us for a while because it is going to hit the airways again. And what you've got to say on it is always of great interest to us. Maybe not others in this joint, but to us it is. Are you interested in the Vinnie Jones doco or not? Don't look at me like that. Yes.
Are you interested in the Vinnie Jones doco or not? Well, I watched, is this the Untold? Yes. Yeah, I watched the great Untold over the weekend. I watched the Liverpool winning the Champions League at Istanbul. Yes. And they went three, they got three nil down against Real Madrid. That was unbelievable. Unbelievable doco. But that's not the Vinnie Jones one.
The Vinnie Jones one is a standalone one. It's a doco about Vinnie Jones. You know Vinnie Jones who became an actor, don't you? He's in the lock. Yeah, lock, stock and two smoking barrels or whatever it is. Is that what it's called? Lock, stock and two smoking barrels? Yeah. Yeah, no, he's in that. And he's in other things too. He's good. He's a really good actor. Like he's done a great job.
But he started off at Wimbledon, Leeds, Sheffield. He was sort of like at Wimbledon FC, he was part of what they called the crazy gang. Yeah. So he was sort of like a hood. He's almost like a hood out there.
Yeah, he was.
He was a hoodlum. Yeah. So I think it dropped on Tuesday. I've been so busy, but I think it dropped on Tuesday. Well, you have been busy too. God, you've been busy. A lot. There's been a lot going on. But as a kid, did you do Lego at all? No. Because I haven't touched a Lego in my life. We couldn't afford it at our house. No, we couldn't afford it either. We used to take sticks and make those.

Chapter 3: What health hack is discussed in relation to heartburn?
Yeah. Well, I'm looking forward to the feedback on the apple cider. She's a winner. Are you an actually goring man? Yeah, a little egg on top.
Oh, I had a googie head.
Used to be my go-to room service meal. Yeah, me too. Me too. I always thought, you know, I always thought no matter where I was in the world, I thought it was a safe bet. A little chicken stick on top with a little bit of satay sauce, a little fried googie egg and away you go. I love it. I love it with a runny yolk. And you know what I like to do?
I like to get my fork in the runny yolk and I like to whack it just once or twice, not too harsh. And then just let it dribble all over the rice and then just give it a nice little mix at the top with a couple of bits of chicken in there as well. Where'd you get your nasi goreng? I don't know.
Where did you have it?
I don't know. There's this new thing called Uber Eats. It turned up last night. I said, the job said to me, what would you like for dinner? And I said, I wouldn't mind a nasi goreng.
I look around. Next minute, I put down the Lego, and there it is. Right by my side. It's from the old Park Hotel.
I don't know where it came from. Unbelievable. Are you onto this? What? The hack. Where you can just, you get your mobile phone out, and you just press a couple of
things i had it last night bloody food just last night because the head chef at our house was feeling off color at that so i had a little miss chew bowl oh it was beautiful we're off and running kevin sheedy join us nice to have a laugh after what's been a heavy couple of days he's going to join us so we'll get back into it at some stage uh tommy green from the giants is going to join us andrew

Chapter 4: What emotions are expressed regarding the Essendon Football Club?
I've suffered a lot. The football club suffered a lot. The supporters mostly have suffered a lot. And I think it's time to really everyone kick in and try and make this football club great again.
So Brad Scott's sacking announced yesterday.
Chapter 5: What led to the sacking of Brad Scott?
James Heard last night puts his hand up and says that he will go through any process if asked and happily put his hand back in the ring to be coach of the Essendon Footy Club. It's been a big 48 hours for the Essendon There was a very sad passing of Neil Danaher and then the sacking of a senior coach, Kevin Sheed. He's been good enough to take our call. Sheed's welcome.
And first of all, the outpouring of emotion for Neil Danaher wouldn't have surprised you given how well you know him. No, he was a fantastic person. And when I look back on his life and the Danaher family, the
just an incredible sort of period in the history of footy and the history of Essendon and Melbourne and obviously the two Perth clubs that he went over and worked for also and probably in the end we both got together and started the Coaches Association about 20 years ago so he's a very caring person and obviously just put the candle on the cake of what a great person he is and always will be.
And then news comes through that Brad Scott's been sacked. So how big a shock and surprise was it to you? Well, it would have been a shock for me to be sacking him on the... basically just about the 24-hour kneel down at his side. I mean... But look, I thought eventually one is he'd been very unlucky with the injuries that he's had.
But to me, I thought that... He improved himself as a coach with his two preliminary final appearances. But I think he just didn't sort of gel at Essendon at any stage.
And probably in the end, I think whilst he's unlucky, there's no doubt about that with the injury toll that he's had over the last two years. I think that Essendon's probably crying out for the coach to come along and give a little bit of success.
Hey, Sheeds, good morning to you. Were you surprised that Hurdy has put his hand up publicly for the job?

Chapter 6: What are the implications of James Hird's potential return as coach?
No, no, it doesn't worry me at all. I think it's good. I think it's open, it's honest. I did make a comment yesterday when I was interviewed that to coach Essendon, you've got to love Essendon, and I think he does, and I think he'll do anything to make sure he gets this right this time around if he ever gets it, but he may not get it.
I mean, there might be sort of people at Essendon that may never want him to coach Essendon. I don't know who they are, but... I think in the end, the people and the fans most likely do, and I don't know what the sort of feeling is around town, but I would think that if he got a chance, he wouldn't make this one up.
And we all know, Gary, I mean, how long and how hard it is to find a coach who can win you a premiership, because I think Melbourne went through about 13 or 14 after Norm Smith, and Richmond went through about six or seven in 10 years.
Sheeds, what difference does it make? In your mind, what difference does it make whether or not you love the club to coach the club? That's a very good question. I think that you go deeper and you dig deeper and you give it your life.
I couldn't do any more for anyone when I coached there. I'm going to go back on my own feelings, Tim. Some guys go and coach a club and

Chapter 7: How do fans perceive the coaching situation at Essendon?
It's a job. Well, you know, to me it was never a job, okay? So I only heard something like that type of person.
What about the fact that he hasn't coached for 11 years?
He's been out of the game a long time. Does that not disqualify him in any way in your mind?
Well, I'd never coached before I got the job, but this isn't... all depending on what you want to do and how you think about things.
I mean, I never, I never went for an interview with, um, the AFL to get the Giants job. They just said, you're doing it. We want to go and talk to your wife and see if you can convince her to go up to Sydney and start a job. I didn't have one interview. Um, so interviews can be important, but they're not the be all end all. Um,
And I think that when you haven't coached for five or eight years or whatever, you keep your toe in the water down at Port Melbourne. His main position would be to get the best people around him, obviously. Like, I was fortunate enough to get people like Neil Danaher, people like, you know, basically, and then Mark Williams was a great coach. Neil Danaher was a great coach.
I had... Kevin Moss, you know, some of the best coaches, Bob and Thompson, Mark Harvey, Dean Wallace. Dean Wallace is one of the best coaches I've ever recognised. So I had that many good coaches that helped me that went, oh, Dennis Plagan. So you've got to go and find the best people to help you.
There are people out there, and I'm looking at a text message here while you're speaking, and they believe that there are influential people that you're associated with at the Essendon Football Club that can make this happen, are going to make it happen, and you go out there, you start campaigning for James Heard, this is the absolute wrong thing for the club to be doing.
How do you respond to that?
