Thanks to your company on Fireball. Last year I told you about my favourite restaurant in Adelaide. It's the Barbecue Inn. And if you're coming to Adelaide, head there.
The Barbecue Inn.
The Barbecue Inn. But make sure you book because they're always booked out. They actually have Fireball Friday. Every Friday where they get the Fireball shots out. They put us on the radio and it's Fireball Friday. So shout out to those who are... Hang on a minute.
I'm not being had here, am I? You're not getting something?
No, no. I've been going there. Is there a little something coming your way? My family has, hand on heart, no. Has Big Sexy been there for FOC? No. Big Sexy! Hand on heart, I've been going there since I was about eight. It's Dad's favourite restaurant as well. And I was just in there the other day and they said, we're doing Fireball Friday. They've been doing it for a while.
Next time I come over, can we have some lunch over there?
Let's absolutely do that. Bring Big Sexy and we'll go and have some lunch. I would love to do that. Hey, our first thoughts of the game last night. Thursday night footy is for Signet. Life's never flat when you power every moment with the Signet Power Bank. Signet.com. Adelaide win their third game in seven weeks by a point, would you believe? St Kilda, Port Adelaide, Geelong. Amazing. They've also had some other close losses as well, as the Cats have won. as well. I think, just my first thoughts quickly, as I touched on just before the news break there, one of the great home and away wins for the Adelaide Football Club. No Rankin, no Phil Thorpe. They were down to one on the bench with about 10 minutes to go in the last quarter.
There was... carnage everywhere. Their tackling and physicality last night, as good as you are going to see against a very, very good opponent. Adelaide fans should not be or could not be any prouder of that performance. Before we hear from Kingy, here's the coach, Matthew Nix, after the game.
To get one's really pleasing. You know, great side. Geelong are such a great side, have been for so long. I think it's 21 the last time we beat them. For me, it's more about the way we did it, the way we got it done. You know, deep down, I just know how good we are. And it's hard sometimes to sort of walk in here and talk to that. But I will today. The boys executed under immense pressure and, you know, incredibly proud of the way they went about it. And they deserved the result.
Well said. Yeah, absolutely. I very rarely get a lump in the throat or a tear well up in the eye or anything like that. But I must admit last night, Jordan Dawson after the game, the emotion spilling out of him. I didn't see that live, but having seen it on the coverage since when I got back to the room, that was some sort of journey.
What are the hosts' initial thoughts on the Adelaide vs Geelong game?
This man, what he's doing is just unbelievable. Now, I think – not that he's looking for any awards or anything like that, but if he hasn't sewn up the Robert Rose Award for the most courageous player in our competition already, then I'll go here because what – What he did last night, he basically refused to let the Cats take the game away from Adelaide. And they were charging, weren't they? They were three big goals, but they were statements. The big contested mark versus two Cats. He had one retreating on him. It was a difficult situation. And then he knocked it through from 55. That was a moment that I think will be one of his great highlights. And he's got a few already.
Well, yeah, well said. You know, just his heart's broken and he's out there leading the team like he is under clearly the emotional adversity, of course, but then the physical toll that he took and the punishment that he took last night, he was so sore after that push and then he got another knock and he's limping around and then to do what he did and stand up in that moment and Yeah, there's been a few captains' rankings that I've seen around the place this week. He's hard to beat. I mean, we're blessed with some great captains, Gorn and Bont, of course. But he's on the podium, I would have thought.
