Chapter 1: What are some unorthodox money habits that can lead to wealth?

5.532 - 9.998 George Kamel

Well, if you're in the mood to be a little bit weird to build wealth successfully, you're in the right place.

0

10.498 - 14.483 Rachel Cruze

Do you ever feel like you are the main character in a girl power rom-com montage?

0

14.583 - 21.692 George Kamel

I mean, I think everything about me people would consider unusual. This is the number one area you can focus on because it's something you can actually control.

0

26.859 - 27.78 Rachel Cruze

Hey guys, I'm Rachel Cruz.

0

28.841 - 29.522 George Kamel

I'm George Camel.

30.583 - 45.608 Rachel Cruze

And this is Smart Money Happy Hour. All right, well, this is the show where two friends who happen to be money experts talk about what you're talking about. So everything from pop culture, current events, and money.

45.869 - 49.242 George Kamel

But first, Rachel, we're sipping on a virgin piña colada.

49.778 - 50.999 Rachel Cruze

And it's delicious.

51.28 - 60.009 George Kamel

We're going to give you the rating and reveal the cost per glass at the end of the episode. So stick around for that. I think you're going to like what you hear because you can't taste it.

Chapter 2: Why is living on less than you make considered groundbreaking advice?

62.812 - 80.968 Rachel Cruze

Okay, George, you know one of the funniest things I have noticed about doing all this, like, money content? Like, if we're ever on stage or even on a media hit, I'll randomly just say, live on less than you make. And I will get an audible, like... gasp.

0

80.988 - 81.949 George Kamel

Their mind is blown.

0

81.969 - 98.564 Rachel Cruze

Or like, yes, I remember doing a news segment and I remember the anchor was like, that is so wise. Like, it's like mind blown. And I just realized, man, you know, it's just not common. Some of the things we talk about when it comes to money, genuinely, not common sense these days.

0

98.684 - 98.985 George Kamel

Yeah.

0

99.245 - 101.547 Rachel Cruze

Can be a little weird, even something like that. Something that is common.

101.647 - 113.759 George Kamel

We encourage that around here at Ramsey. And for 30 years now, we've been promoting what has become controversial, weird principles like paying for things in full. and not buying it if you can't afford it in full.

Chapter 3: How can working more than 40 hours a week impact your finances?

114.339 - 125.212 George Kamel

And we got a lot of flack for that. So we thought it'd be fun to break down some of these habits behind living on less than you make and talk about the unorthodox ways you can build wealth.

0

125.372 - 138.168 Rachel Cruze

Yeah, kind of the weird way, if you will. But okay, before we go to the financial side, are there any unusual habits that you swear by, George, that are... unusual for today, like hobbies or parenting or anything? Oh my goodness.

0

138.449 - 144.479 George Kamel

I mean, I think everything about me people would consider unusual as far as my habits, mostly related to hygiene.

0

145.721 - 147.865 Rachel Cruze

Oh, because it's so uppity up.

0

147.885 - 166.892 George Kamel

Oh, here's one that Whitney finds very odd. Whitney could give you a litany of these. Sure, sure. I, in the shower, I have a bar of soap and I have to like wash my hands in between like a shampoo and a conditioner. for example. I don't know why I can, I don't like the feeling of it.

166.912 - 168.695 Rachel Cruze

This feels so personal to ask a friend.

Chapter 4: What are the benefits of being a one-car family?

169.617 - 173.644 Rachel Cruze

Is that bar of soap used at all for anything else except for hand washing?

0

173.865 - 174.065 George Kamel

No.

0

174.205 - 175.368 Rachel Cruze

Like you don't use it like on your body?

0

175.388 - 191.318 George Kamel

No, I have like a loofah, some body wash. It's just like to, I don't like the feeling of that on my hands. I don't know how to explain it. But if you shampoo your face, then you go straight for the face wash. I just feel like that can't be good for your face.

0

192.019 - 195.182 Rachel Cruze

So you wash your... Okay, but you said you wash your hands with it.

195.603 - 195.863 George Kamel

Yes.

196.204 - 199.608 Rachel Cruze

Okay. So from like shaving cream, wash your hands. Yes.

199.848 - 200.669 George Kamel

Get the gunk off.

200.689 - 201.35 Rachel Cruze

That makes no sense.

Chapter 5: Why should you not care about your credit score?

201.39 - 203.112 Rachel Cruze

With running water. Water like hitting you.

0

203.252 - 203.473 George Kamel

Yeah.

0

203.713 - 221.88 Rachel Cruze

Okay. That is so funny. The only time I do that... Because my routine is makeup-wise, and I use my hands a lot when I apply my makeup. Is that not okay? I don't know. Some people are picky about that. But, I mean, like, my moisturizer, my toner, brushes. How else do you apply makeup without your hands? But, like, my foundation, I'll sometimes, like, use my fingers. Oh, yeah.

0

221.9 - 225.326 Rachel Cruze

Like, I'll use, like, my hands a lot for my moisturizer foundation.

0

Chapter 6: How does throwing savings at debt change financial stability?

225.406 - 237.243 Rachel Cruze

I don't know. Now, and then I go do my hair after my makeup. Then I will in between wash because I don't want my makeup or moisturizers greasing up my hair. Similar concept. No, but yours has water coming already at you.

0

238.865 - 241.109 George Kamel

Water alone does not cleanse. I don't know if you knew that.

0

241.79 - 243.272 Rachel Cruze

It's how people die.

0

244.814 - 250.442 George Kamel

On the Oregon Trail. If they just had water, they would have been fine. They didn't have soap, I don't think.

0

250.557 - 254.261 Rachel Cruze

Oh, my gosh. Soap on soap, though. Yeah. That's dangerous for George.

Chapter 7: What is the debt snowball method and how does it work?

254.321 - 254.582 Rachel Cruze

Okay.

0

254.602 - 257.345 George Kamel

That's funny. Do you have any unusual habits you swear by?

0

257.365 - 264.853 Rachel Cruze

I know. Man. No. I'm not as unorthodox as you.

0

265.374 - 265.875 George Kamel

Okay.

0

265.915 - 281.855 Rachel Cruze

I'm sure I do. I'm terrible. We've talked about this on the show. I don't swear by it, but it is a habit. I don't finish things. So like I'll have like a bite of a granola bar left and I'll like leave it in my car or my water bottle will always have like that much left and I won't drink. Like I always have like a thing left.

Chapter 8: Why is prioritizing generosity an important money habit?

281.875 - 283.918 George Kamel

You can't finish anything. Why is that?

0

283.938 - 284.519 Rachel Cruze

I don't know.

0

284.539 - 286.583 George Kamel

If you went to a therapist, how would they psychoanalyze this?

0

286.603 - 292.191 Rachel Cruze

There would probably be something along the lines of like needing to have extra just in case.

0

292.357 - 293.018 George Kamel

Oh.

293.399 - 295.263 Rachel Cruze

I mean, I don't know. I'm making that up right now. I don't know.

295.363 - 298.629 George Kamel

I thought it was because you hated for something to end, so you just never let it end.

298.649 - 301.294 Rachel Cruze

Oh, that's much more fun. I'll take that analysis.

301.314 - 304.48 George Kamel

That's the fun in you. Well, if I eat the bar, it's going to be gone. It's going to be over.
