This is Talk of the Devils, the Athletic Show dedicated to Manchester United. Yes, we are back and coming up today. Lots has happened since we have been away, but perhaps the main development is that Manchester United have announced that they have secured land to build a new Old Trafford. We'll delve into all the detail on that. There's still some huge question marks about how the stadium will be funded. There's lots of different concerns from supporters as well. We'll talk about all of that, and of course, no one has signed just yet for Manchester United. Edison very close, but we'll talk transfer business a little bit later on on the show, too. Right, we're here there and everywhere. Andy Mitten is with us.
He's taken a little break from his holiday in Italy to do the podcast. So hello Andy and Laurie, you have taken a break from your adventure, shall we call it, in the USA for the World Cup. So thank you for. Being with us.

Um trying to get in Barry's stadium. I've wanted to visit it since the nineteen ninety World Cup. Drove up there the other day, just told my wife I was going for a run, got there, and there's like a big group of lads there. And I'm thinking this is Barry's ultras. Why are they gonna be hanging around outside a stadium at eight o'clock in the morning in June and it was a road crew. There's gonna be a big concert on. I don't know who it was gonna be on. And uh security said, Are you part of production? and I went, Yeah. I think I'm driving straight into Barry Stadium here.

Twenty year old me would have flown through there, but honesty got the better of me. So I parked my car up, then I did a run round the stadium, saw an open gate, started running straight through, and then I hear Scoozy, Scoozy, Scoozy, and security getting on my case, just as I get into the stadium. And I looked round and d they didn't speak any of the kings and I didn't speak any Italian, so I just sort of shrugged my shoulders. So I've got into Barry's stadium. I think it's a great stadium. People here do not share my enthusiasm for it, so it shows how wrong you can be.

Well no, but I just like how Andy has to fib to his wife that he's going for a run so that he can perhaps break into a stadium. I have to say to my wife that my editor has absolutely demanded I go to Las Vegas for a feature.
Sure. It's not been described as a holiday to anyone this time.
I've managed to avoid calling it a holiday. Uh it's very much a work trip, very, very busy, uh finding out lots of information, which you you're seeing as as I go. But yeah, I'm I'm actually only like kind of midway through it. So yeah, I've still got about eight or nine days left. So I apologize publicly uh for being away from my family. Uh I will be home soon. Miss you lots.
Um, well, I'm sure you've got plenty of stories and we'll talk about them on Monday's show, if that's all right, 'cause we're going to do a bit of a World Cup special on Monday. Uh talk about obviously Manchester United at the World Cup, but Laurie's got a few tales that he'd like to share too. Hopefully we'll have Carl with us as well, who's also been over in Chicago during the tournament.
