For those who don't know, I've just already done this in the intro, but it bears repeating because we're getting to the end game now with these books and This palaver is going to be especially spoilerific for what comes next in this series of books. So for the love of God, if you haven't read All the Way to the Tower, stop listening. For the love of God, please do.
I mean, the proper episode was almost spoilerific. Yeah. You know, there have been some palavers where I make so little notes, and then this one I have, like... God, 20 little bulleted things where I'm like, we got to talk about this. We got to talk about this in the pullover. But I guess first and foremost, like, What an interesting response to the very ending, to the reveal. I feel like we talked him off a ledge a little bit.
I feel we also talked him away from some deductions that he made too soon.
Fair deductions. I can totally see how he got there. And maybe it was us intervening too much as documentarians to shy him away. Maybe we saved the precious little rabbit from being eaten by the wolf.
So if you've forgotten listeners, we're talking about the fact that, that Chris had a, didn't like the reveal about Salem's lot being, and therefore King being part of this universe. And then started talking about puppet masters and, and feeling like the value of the story been undermined by the fact that it was now all implicitly fictitious. And Nat and I had the greatest poker faces you've ever seen in Release the footage. We were both of us just staring blankly ahead at our cameras with the most Gorgon-like expressions you've ever seen in your life. I am actually quite relieved. because I think he will still like it when it comes out what's really happening, because I think the reasons he dislike it are not borne out by what happens next.
There was even what he said about, like, unless King goes whole hog, full forward, and my God, does King go full forward, whole hog, with inserting himself into this narrative.
Yes, I think he was saying he's got to lean into the conceit. I mean, more than that, he literalises the conceit, right? So I'm quite relieved... with that um and i'm also relieved that he doesn't fully understand what's going on yet i feel like some of the mystery is still there for him i feel like he's basically exactly as confused as he's supposed to be yeah yeah um because quite the opposite king is not a puppet master coming for it like he is he's like the pathetic whiny sort of uh uh like
