What happened in Richmond’s clash with Collingwood and how did the team perform?
Moiner than a mine. I'm crossing you in style some day. Oh dream maker, you are Breaking Wherever you're going, I'm going your way.
G'day Tiger fans, Rich O here, and welcome to Talking Tigers. We come to you, it's a dreary old day here in Melbourne. Big boy month is about to arrive. There's no doubt about that. Got to dig deep this time of year. Uh, some good things out of the game at the G on the weekend against the Pies. And this week, another arch rival. It's the stealth game. Take on the Carlton Football Club. At the G. We can't wait for that one. Let's get right. Right into it. Uh Tone, I'm gonna pass it over to you, mate. Ya that is your song today and it is for great reasons.
Yeah, it is. It's a bit self-indulgent, but it is for a very good reason. Because my uh dear parents, uh Bib and Ken, celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary today. That's one of their favourite songs, um uh Moon River. There's been uh composed by Henry Mancini, several versions, but that's the Andy Williams version. 70 years. That's amazing. It's an incredible achievement.
And we were talking about it off air. There's a an amazing stat you have about couples that actually get to this market.
zero one of couples get to their seventieth wedding anniversary. In fact it's it's it's I think that's one in a hundred thousand couples. It is so rare it is so rare that you just can't find seventieth wedding anniversary cards. Well you've got to get married in your early twenties.
Which they did. And when you're going to have a long, full life. So both have congratulations. Absolutely.
So it was a big year, fifty six, of course, because uh bla uh advent of TV and the Olympic games.
So it was a big year for them. So yeah. No, I'll have to ask him tonight. Are you gonna cook them dinner or are you gonna get takeaway?
We'll get some we'll get some takeaway. Yeah, yeah. They had their um reception at the the SB, yes. Oh did that? Yeah, yeah at the Espy, yeah, yeah.
In the in the band room.
Yeah, so so all the very best of them, yeah. We'll look forward to catching up with them.
That's outstanding. If I if I'm to replicate that feat, I'll be a hundred and ten. Yeah. You're not gonna get there.
And if I was to replicate it ha having had a twenty three year marriage, I three, twenty three year and I still wouldn't get there. No.
No. No, well done. And Kenny of course w did some work at Richmond for years, didn't he? Get involved with the show, hashtag Talking Tigers and Talking Tigers at Richmond FC dot com dot AU Uh What'd you make of the game, guys?
Oh, I thought the first quarter was pretty good. I thought again we should have probably been a couple of goals up at quarter time. I think we uh uh we were dominated territory. We did, yeah, we did. And uh unfortunately it was that one quarter again. It was the second quarter where we just uh too many turnovers. They just punished us on turnovers probably right through the game, but certainly in the second quarter. And that was the difference in the end, the second quarter, because the rest of the game there wasn't much in it at all.
No, there wasn't just our inside fifty, but when you really look at it personnel wise, you're asking McKelty LaFau to play Keith Ford and y it's probably at times you're asking a little bit too much. He's probably not quite tall enough and that's a big job. So that that hurt us. Turnovers killed us at times as well. They punish turnover as well as anyone. As well as anyone.
And we're with the um number one team, which is not a stat you're gonna wanna have for just unforced unforced giveaways. So th that's just pure yeah, when we're not under pressure and actually just not hitting those targets. And they just as you said, Matthew, the pies are one of the best at the competition at at punishing those and uh and they did
Well they they did they're low, um they're actually a low inside fifty two. They get numbers back, they they smother you and then they explode off the back of it. And yep. When you got Dacos and Degoe in the mix it's pretty hard to stop once they get their hands on it.
