Who is Vasili Triant and what is his background in the CX industry?
Hi, this is Dave Michaels and welcome to the first episode of Leaf Frog CX Strategies. I'm very excited to introduce my first guest, the silly triumph of uh UJIT, the CEO of UJIT. I've known Basilia for I don't know, uh it's easier to count uh employers than it is years. I remember back from short tell days, but uh Serenova, Cisco. Uh and he's been at U Jet for five years. Uh and we're gonna cover a lot of ground in this uh interview uh at Ujet. and talk about the industry as a whole. So many things to talk about. So uh with that, let's get to our first episode of Leapfrog CX strategies.
Sit by your phone, don't you wear? No.
Vasily, welcome. You're my first guest on Leafrog CX Strategies. Uh great to have you here.
Thanks for having me. I feel honored to be your first guest. I'm looking forward to it, Dave. I
I uh we got so much to cover here. Uh so I got I got all my questions kind of organized. I'm gonna start kind of high and get down to the into the details here. Um just a brief introduction. Um you joined UJet in 2020. uh as a business officer and took uh almost five years I guess five years to get finally promoted to CEO. What took you so long. Uh so uh we'll we won't make that the first question but but but uh uh congratulations on being CEO what was it what April you got was was April? Yeah April this year yeah yeah fantastic um And uh so you've been at Ujet through I guess two fundraisings and you really through almost everything. I mean uh uh you've been there for quite some time. I remember meeting you for sure.
I definitely remember meeting you at Sisk at at Sisko and a uh in Rowan, Sisko. I'm I definitely remember you at Sara Nova. I don't know if we cross paths at um Short Tell or not, but Short Tell was a fun company. Uh yeah, Short
Tell was yeah, Short Tell was great. Definitely a great experience. And
you were at Short Tell a long
time too. Yeah, a little over eight years. Yeah. I went through the whole CEO debacle and yeah, that was uh that kind of precipitated my departure. So Were you the the final CEO? The the five they we went from combs to Don uh Gerskis's interim, then to Peter, I can't even remember Peter's last name. That that was kind of like the He was the one that he was the one that killed the company, yeah. He was the one that killed the company, yeah. And that that uh you know precipitated my departure when he said, What is Cloud Contact Center? And I said, Okay, time for me to go. So
Well, you kind of had a similar setup there with uh Rowan. I mean, you were there during the Rowan Spark uh uh time and you were the guy in charge of Contact Center, and I think Rowan kind of had a similar attitude toward Contact Center as Peter did. Well he you know,
it's interesting, a lot of people say that, but when I join You know, Ro and I spent a bunch of time together and he kind of was asking me like a lot of questions and basically said, you know, hey, we're gonna, you know, put all the tools to to work and let's go invest in in this CCAS space. And then, you know, fast forward a few months later, he becomes the CEO of 5.9. So he took a quick interest there
and left. Yeah. Yeah. Now of all those companies, uh Cisco, Serenova, Shortel, we won't count Toxest. You weren't there very long. Um Which was the funnest?
Oh, I mean, I would have to say Shortel. I mean, Shortel was, you know, when you look at a lot of people in the industry today, whether it's through CCAS companies or UCAS companies, there a lot of these folks actually had their origins at Shortel. And so it's like this family that grew up and expanded and then have kind of taken all these leadership roles of these different companies, but it was. You know, the David and Goliath story. It was the building something new and unique. And I mean, we took it when I joined the company, I think we were uh like eleven million dollars in revenue. And then we we took that thing public, right? It was and it was a fun ride, it was a lot of great people. Um yeah, it it was it was a great dream.
Now
short tell is kind of a casualty of the Prem to Cloud transition.
