What does the opening briefing cover and why is it crucial for riders?

Jesco 0:00
It's insane how nervous people get when there's a clock in front of their face and the like the tension builds up in that minute before they go and then it all falls off. Nervous in a good way. Like the the the start kind of procedure that we have makes it so that people are more nervous. I don't know why. Like it's it's a nice occasion. Everyone gets their moment. Goes by pretty quickly. It does, yeah.
Logan 0:27
It's almost like each rider is just a click in the clock, isn't it? It's like tink tink and then all ninety two are on the other.
Jesco 0:33
And now they're all out there, which is also um crazy to think about.

Good morning. It has just gone 6 a.m. here in Niriosbach at the Eppstein project at the start of Taunus bikepacking number nine. Um it is a surprisingly Chilly morning. Um We were expecting it to be a little bit warmer today, um, and that's gonna be the trend for the week. But mercifully It started off quite cool and is probably going to remain a little bit overcast today, which I'm sure some of the riders will be grateful for. Might mean that those who plan to go fast can stay a little bit cooler and those thinking of taking it a little easier. I can just enjoy a little bit of respite before the thirty degree temperatures later in the week. Um, if it sounds like I'm out of breath, it's because I'm actually um

walking up the first part of the the track. That the riders will start on today. Um, so they're gonna set off in about an hour and a half at one minute intervals, starting at 8 a.m. all the way until the last rider sets off, which will be around about 9.30, at which point all the riders will be on the course. And at that point we will set off in the media team. uh to follow them on the first part of their journey on to CP1 where as we know from yesterday's podcast they have to manage to figure out their way to that ferry crossing and ultimately to CP1. Um but It was a nice night last night. Everyone got together at the beer garden and hung out and ate pasta and Bratwurst, etc. Um, enjoying each other's company.
Logan 3:40
It's such a great like festival atmosphere. All the tents are up, and so many of the riders choose to sleep in their tents before the start. Um, even those who live locally who could choose to go home and sleep in a nice comfy bed on the eve of a fairly uh taxing endeavour, um, even then they choose to sleep in the campsite, enjoy each other's company, get in on the spirit, share in that kind of collective nervous energy that always comes before a big event like this. And yeah, just kind of soak it all in. But um this morning, uh the Epstein project, the lovely Danny and Ralph who run the the campsite are gonna be putting breakfast on for the riders starting at six thirty till seven thirty, after which there'll be a rider briefing from Yesco.
Logan 4:35
And then They will start their journey.
Paula 4:39
Before the riders scatter into the maze, Jasko gathers them for those final crucial details. It's a briefing that covers the map, the ferry timings, and the inevitable mechanical gremlins. But beyond the technical stuff, Jesco's message is the harbit of this event. Ride smart, stay safe, be a courteous guest in these hills and most importantly, have fun.
Jesco 5:06
Don't be shy, there's space here. Please come close. I don't want to shout so much.
Anya 5:12
What?
Jesco 5:14
Uh if we haven't met yesterday, um hello, I'm Jasko. Nice to meet you all. And uh welcome to Town is bikepacking number nine.
Bruno Satin 5:23
Whoa.
Jesco 5:24
Uh I'm a little bit nervous, but I know uh a lot of you are also nervous because of the ride. And uh just wanted to say that's okay, that's normal. Um as soon as you'll start, your life will become simple and all the nerves will be forgotten because all you have to do is ride your bike, take care of yourself, eat and drink and
