Well, I'm glad to be back. I've always enjoyed our time together. So I'm looking forward to this.
No, thank you very much for your time, Whitley. And I appreciate you've had some issues on your end. You're not in your usual studio, but you're here. You sound great. All looks good. And I'm looking forward to this conversation with you. And I want to know, we've spoken several times before about communion. We've spoken about your background. So we're not going to go into all of that, but what I'd love to know for people who know Communion, but maybe less familiar with Transformation, can you talk about the original Transformation book, that original release, and what it allowed you to explore that Communion didn't? Okay, I'll be glad to.
What happened was, during the period when I was writing Communion in 2026, Anne and I, of course, were talking a great deal about what do we do with this? Because it had taken some time, two or three months, to realize that they were real, that this wasn't something in my head or some kind of hallucination or some kind of drug that had been slipped into my food somehow by unknown parties. I don't do drugs. I've never even smoked marijuana. you know, anything like that at all in my life, or a cigarette for that. So I'm not exactly into the drugs world at all. So we ruled all that out. There was nothing left but to face the fact that it was real. They'd been there. I had gone up in the air and been in a little room with them.
And they'd done things to me, they were real. And it was pretty terrible. The memories were very terrifying. But at the same time, they were real. And Anne and I just couldn't get away from that fact. And we were thinking, what do we do next? Are they still around? Why would they pick me? I mean, what is going on? We wanted to know more. And so I said, well, let's go out in the woods and go back to where it happened. And maybe if they're still around, they'll see us and come back. And maybe we can learn more about him. She said, Great idea. You go out. So wait a minute. She said, No, no, I'm staying here. I've got a little boy in the in the sleep in bed, right in the other room, the bedroom in his bedroom. I can't leave him.
You go ahead out in the woods and see what happens. And I did. It took me. And that's the beginning of all of the rest of my life, actually, because I went out in the woods. I basically said yes. They came back and they didn't just come back once within a week of my first successful attempt to walk out into through those woods and to the place where they had picked me up in the first place. which was really was one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life, if not the single hardest thing I've ever done. It took days of struggling to get out there first.
