It is the Anfield Wrap at the end of Liverpool's season. Liverpool won, Brentford won. With me, I've got John Gibbons, Pete Bolster and Ian Ryan. We're going to talk about that. We're going to talk about the Pallava and we're going to talk a little bit about what we think Liverpool should be focusing on in the transfer market. It was a good game until 1-0. a good game and a good performance John until 1-0 I actually think Liverpool imposed themselves pretty well it was for me quite boilerplate of a way to play at home against a physical well organised side who are good at set pieces and you know I think that Liverpool deserve credit really up until it goes 1-0 because
I think it was just reminiscent of performances you've seen down the years, also including the big Alisson save when that control does just slip for a split second. That's reminiscent as well of what you've seen in last season and seasons before then. So it's worth pointing out, they do play well for an hour. Yeah, they negated a lot of what Brentford were good at to the extent that you didn't really sort of notice it until right to the end when there was that series of long throws. And they did that by being on top, by having a good amount of control. Yeah, we missed an out-and-out number nine. That was the one thing when you're watching us and thinking, you know, Gappo's trying his best up there, but...
A lot of the time, the ball could have gone into the box and I felt like they didn't really trust him necessarily to get ahead of his man or to make something of it, really. And so it was coming back. But you understand that, you know, if you'd have had Fernando Torres up there, we'd have played a little bit differently. But it's a guy who's basically a left forward and out of form, you know, having to sort of do a job there. And so I thought that was the only thing that was really holding us back was the lack of out-and-outs. number nine. Aside from that, I thought a lot of our build-up play was good. I thought we used both full-backs really well. Obviously, the way Jones is coming inside I think is helping us out in midfield.
I thought... three of them at field has contributed and were able to get forward at different times and support the attack and he had a bit of threat down both wings was quite nice as well it's not been it's not been that often I didn't think Leo Wendel was great to be honest with you I thought he struggled a little bit but he was still a threat and he was still always looking to get in and he still needed managing and I thought Salah played well up until he went off and so there was There was a structure of a team which we haven't always had, and there was a, okay, well, I can see what this Liverpool team are trying to do. And so often this season, we've been playing against teams who look like they know exactly what we're about, and we've got no idea whatsoever.
