Giannis is now in Miami Heat. We know the Knicks are champs and they're not going to have a lot of movement there, but there's going to be a lot of big names still left that need to be signed somewhere. And I kind of want to start our conversation about the offseason slash free agency there. Jalen Brown. Been seeing him make headlines in Cannes, in France, putting on presentations, all the above. Folks are wondering, OK, yes, he can put on these presentations. He can go on Twitch. He can do all that. But where is he going to play basketball next year?
It seems like it's not going to be Boston. It does, right? It feels like that's done, right? I wonder how much the streaming contributed to this. Right. I know I've been making the joke that he became a Twitch streamer. But it does feel like he's just been very vocal. last few months, right? So they got eliminated. And I don't know how that's been sitting with the team because it just feels very odd that all of a sudden Jalen Brown is just, all right, we got to move them. You know, if you're the Boston Celtics, we got to move this guy that carried us all year long, sixth place in the MVP vote. It does feel kind of out of nowhere.
Let's put that in context. He's coming off the best year of his career, almost 28 points, seven rebounds, five assists a game, 56 wins for Boston, as you mentioned, sixth place in MVP voting. And Brad Stevens came out and said that he acknowledged the fact that there would be this potential conversation around him being involved in the Giannis trade. And that adds to the fuel. It feels like it adds to the fire of, oh, yeah, he's probably not going to be here if they're already having those conversations. And because of this, you know, that rumor mill, the fact that he was even on the chopping block, as you could say, for Giannis, does it feel like the Brown-Boston marriage, including, you know, Jason Tatum, has that been broken?
Yes, it's over. Yeah, I think it's over. It's also, you know, what stage he's at in his career. Right. This isn't this isn't when he was getting traded or in trade rumors for Kevin Durant or Anthony Davis. Like this is him after a finals MVP, him after MVP votes, like Dave said, and an all NBA level player. Like, I think he views himself differently. And honestly, I don't I don't blame him. You know, I think there's ultimately there's sort of the grass is greener on the other side aspect that players tend to look at, especially star players who have never been given the opportunity to be a number one option on a team. He's probably thinking he could be better than the all NBA six players. MVP voting type of guy and I don't blame him for necessarily having that approach the question is where can he get that game off like where is where is the place that Jalen Brown thinks is the next spot for him and I'm.
I don't know if he'll have as much control of his destination as some of these other stars do. But I'm pretty curious where he ends up because he could fit in a lot of different places.
And with the thing is he needs to go to a place that's ready to compete. Like this isn't like, you know, I don't know. let's throw a name out there of a team that's kind of on the way up. Like he's got to go to like Houston, right? Yeah. I mean, I think Detroit would make sense because he goes there, they're instantly in the finals conversation. I think Atlanta makes a lot of sense, right? There's pieces that he can go play with.
