What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Good morning and welcome to the NBA Daily. I'm your host, Andrew Schlecht. Coming up on today's show, we're talking about the Sacramento Kings with my friends Deuce and Moe. Good morning, everybody. Welcome to the show. Deuce Mason, Morgan Reagan. How are you guys?
We
are
so good. Lovely. Wonderful.
Love and
love. Personally, we are great. Oh,
yeah. Personally? Yeah,
great. Yeah, great. And the NBA season is almost here.
Yes. And listen, we get we're going to talk about the Kings, which is a basketball team in the NBA.
It's funny. I just immensely prepared for anything right now when it comes to questions or topics, because I'm just immediately going, all right, here we go. Time for people to punch down on us and sacrifice. I'm just like, all right, here we go. I'll accept the beating. Go
ahead. No. No, I'm not. I'm not like, OK, I'm not ready for a punchdown. I'm just I'm ready to analyze just facts and what's happening going into this new season.
Yes. Yes. Let's do that. Let's let's try to do that with the Kings. OK. As a Sacramento Kings fan, if I'm sitting in my house as a Sacramento Kings fan, what is the thing I'm thinking about the most heading into this season? What is the thing I'm looking forward to most?
Every question can't
make
me laugh. I know. I'm
going,
why
me? Should I move to Oklahoma City?
Hey, listen.
I could sell
you. I'm sorry, so if I'm a Kings fan sitting at home right now thinking
about
the season, what am I excited about? Darius Acuff Jr. You know, I I think most Kings fans were hoping that they would land a top three pick. And of course that didn't happen, but this draft class looks like beyond talented. And I think the hope is, Hey, last year you had two point guards. They were Dennis Schroeder and Russell Westbrook. And now going into next season, you have this 19 year old who showed some incredible flashes in college, a little bit in summer league. And, you know, with a young player, there's just naturally more hope.
Yeah, I would say a Kings fan right now could sit at their house and be like excited for the hope and growth because... That is what you are going to expect and want to see from some of the young guys that you saw take a leap with their opportunities last season. So I say growth all around, whether it's just healthy bodies, Sabonis and Keegan actually playing together, didn't see the floor together last year. And then some of the young bigs like Maxime Raynaud and Dylan Cardwell, what will their growth look like after a full off season being NBA players? So growth, hope, Darius Acuff. And for me,
like last year, Andrew, I don't know if you realize just how tough it was last year. Everybody for sure hurt, but then like the style of play wasn't good. It was bad. Like, wait, it's 2026 and we're the worst three-point shooting team in the NBA. We take the fewest threes in the NBA. We're not good on offense and we're not good on defense.
Yeah.
Okay, and then at the end of the year, you win a whole bunch of games. And then it kind of messes with the lottery stands and all that. So last year was really tough. And I think at least this year, it's like, hey, that's over. And at least there's some young guys. And like Morgan said, you have some young talent that you may be intrigued to see where they go in year two.
Yeah. And I will add... that everybody that wants to dog on the Kings for getting Ben Simmons, at least they didn't trade for John Morant or Trey young, in my opinion, because that to me, like they both screamed, like, this is a guy, the Sacramento Kings should trade for, because this is where these kinds of guys go. And you know what? I just want to applaud them for not doing either one of those deals.
Thank you, Andrew. And we accept the applause, first of all. And we agree because it's such a low-risk situation.
What is the biggest storyline Kings fans are most look forward to?
Wait, were you expecting us to say that Kings fans should be sitting in their house excited for Ben Simmons? Is that what you were waiting for us to say?
No. No, listen. You guys actually know ball.
And if
you did, I would just shut the podcast down. I'd be
like,
nope. It was actually a test to see if this was going to be a two-minute podcast or a 25-minute podcast.
