team? Yeah, probably forward progress, like some proof, some evidence that the rebuild is heading in the right direction. They've already been shown that this is a rebuild. They've been told that it's evident, which is all they wanted from the last regime. It happened too late and it looked bad, but like... They have that proof. They have that much. Now they want to know that this is going to be going in the right direction, even if it's going to take some time. They want to see the building blocks move in place. They want to see sort of Josh Giddey take another step. They want to see that Madis Bouzelis might have a long-term, be a long-term fixture here. They want to see that Caleb Wilson, his summer league was not a fluke, right?
And they want to see that this thing is going in the right direction.
Going in the right direction would be a great direction for a Bulls team that has, I think, been on the fence about picking a direction for the last few years and obviously going full committal into this rebuild at this point. Do you feel like, you know, given their summer, given their offseason, of course, you know, some of the transactions, obviously trading for Nick Claxton, signing Norm Powell, kind of revamping their group. Do you feel like this group has a chance to surprise? Or are they still in the foundation building blocks part of their schedule?
No, I think they're going to be bad. And I think people are accepting of that. I think if they do surprise people, they'll be one of those teams where like if you if you really snooze on them on a Wednesday in February, maybe they'll catch you by five points. But that's I think what a surprise is. maybe stops. I mean, it also depends on your expectations for the team. Like I know a lot of people are low on Nick Claxton. I'm kind of in the middle on him. I just, the point I've been trying to make on Nick Claxton and having that archetype in the building, no matter the price point, obviously that's what, what people are sort of going about. And the fact that they jumped on him early and used so much of that cap.
I think with Nick Claxton, you're introducing an archetype, that the existing guys from the last regime, the players, I mean, that they didn't really get used to, this sort of lob threat, this vertical spacer. They didn't get used to a rim protector, this combination of big that Nick Claxton, in theory, is at his best. And then to that point, like Caleb Wilson, if you truly believe this guy's your 1A, your future superstar... I always learn, I learned this in OKC, you want to introduce as many variables as possible to your star guys to see as far as like lineup versatility, what they're able to play with.
