Why is this episode called the Poop Episode and what topics will be covered?

Jeremiah Stringer 0:00
Jeremiah Stringer here. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up before the episode starts that this episode is called the poop episode for a reason, and the whole thing is themed around poop. So if uh that bothers you, you have an aversion to it, or maybe you don't want your kids to hear this in the car and you're listening to the show, then check back next week and we'll have another great episode for you. If you like the poop talk, enjoy.

What's going on? Welcome to the Backpacking Podcast, brought to you by Outdoor Vitals Makers of Performance First Ultralight Gear. And with me today, my good friend, compatriot, and uh fellow backpacking lover, Jeremiah Stringer, the King of Kentucky Backpacking. How
Jeremiah Stringer 0:44
are you, buddy? Hey dude, I'm doing fantastic. Hope uh all is well in the Kelly household. We're on day three of official summer break here at the Stringer household. And uh loving it.
John Kelley 0:57
Well, the Kelly family is on day th two. Day two of having no kids in the house. Having no kids in the house. Yeah. My daughter's at church camp. My son's at his grandfather's house. So the wife and I have had a quiet, relaxing week. It has been glorious. Um I'm sipping on like the most original soda I've had in a while. It is a Pepsi Zero Sugar Cherry. Uh cream soda thing.
Jeremiah Stringer 1:25
It's really good. Well, our household has not been as quiet. And I will tell you, dude, I've been getting a little jealous. Bridget and I have been taking turns on like since we're both teachers, we both get summer break. And both of us being off work, one of us can sleep in and the other person can get up. if we want to. And so we've been taking turns going back and forth. And um for some reason he's been sleeping to like eight thirty, nine o'clock, whenever it's her turn. This morning, my turn. Seven thirty. I was like, at l I guess at least we got to seven thirty. Could be worse.
John Kelley 2:02
I mean, I want to feel sorry for you. But us normal people still have to get up at regular times for work in the morning. So um I I'm sorry that you have to get up at seven thirty about the time that I leave to go to work. So uh
Jeremiah Stringer 2:15
let me tell you this. I've been um I've been working with Bridget to figure out a little trip for us to do and um I'm I'm trying to get her in a hammock. If I can. Yes, I'm I'm gonna try. If I can. Um she you you all may have heard last week me say, hopefully Bridget's not listening and um we can like kind of finagle away to get her in a hammock on my next trip. And then I got done with the show and I come downstairs and she said, I was indeed listening. So uh My plan didn't work. But she said, I just don't want to be separate. And I said, Maybe we can hang off the same tree. But um Yeah. I'm I was gonna tell you, man. But you have been apps. Go ahead. You know it goes great with a hammock

though.
Jeremiah Stringer 3:04
Oh bro, a fantastic top quilt. And a great brand you can check out is Outdoor Vitals, am I right? Yes, outdoor vitals dot com. I was gonna say I have been absolutely loving uh their forty degree. Let me see what color. I think uh every color has a signed um temperature rating. Green is zero, fifteen is blue, thirty degree is like maroonish red, and then I've been using the forty degree, which is like uh kind of gray. And the long. And I've been absolutely loving it because I've been using a smaller backpack as I've been talking about. And this thing fits perfectly in there. Um, I use the long version where I'm so tall, I'm six four, and even the long version only weighs one pound, two point two ounces.
Jeremiah Stringer 3:52
And I'll tell you one more thing I love about it, John, is the snap. Um a lot of them like the snaps wear out and then you'll be laying there asleep and then all of a sudden you'll be, oh, a cold draft. Then you'll feel and the snap has come close or come open where you had it closed behind your neck. Keeping you nice and toasty. Doesn't happen with outdoor vitals. So check out outdoor vitals dot com. or storm loft and uh If you uh don't like the quilts, get the sleeping bag instead. What do you think, John? Well,
John Kelley 4:22
I was gonna say, um, I loan out a lot of gear to people because I have a lot of friends that want to go, but they can't they can't afford gear.
