Now, both are practically begging Washington to slow them down, which brings us to the other uncomfortable question.
Are the biggest AI companies trying to protect the public or protect their profits? Is AI safety a safeguard or a moat built out of federal regulations to keep everybody else out? And can America slow down without handing the lead to Beijing? That's the argument now unfolding around Modi's proposal. These are questions about technology, but they're also questions about money, power, and incentives. And my guest has spent his career following all three. This is Titans on Tomorrow. Andrew Ross Sorkin started writing for The New York Times before he'd finished high school. He founded Dealbook, co-anchors CNBC's Squawk Box, and co-created The Hitch of Billions.
