is The Big Picture, a conversation show about old versus new. Today on the show, we are looking at a diverse and pretty darn good collection of movies that opened over the past week. Among them, the Brad Pitt vehicle Heart of the Beast, the animated film Forgotten Island, the Ethan Hawke survival thriller The Weight, the terrific new documentary The History of Concrete, and Your Mother, Your Mother, Your Mother, a ferocious and meditative new action drama starring Mahershala Ali. But... One movie overwhelmed them all this weekend, Avengers Endgame Encore in Infinity Vision.

will talk about what, if anything, this means, what we think of all these movies, and about the surge in anniversary repertory screenings around the country and major theatrical chains. Later in the show, I'll be joined by one of my favorite filmmakers, John Wilson, whose first feature-length documentary, The History of Concrete, has been a little mini sensation as it expands across the country. Wilson's remarkable TV series How To With John Wilson was on HBO for three seasons and blended man-on-the-street curiosity, observational verite, and a wry sense of humor to create something original, moving, and frequently funny. John is a very smart fellow in our conversation, touches on many aspects of how he does what he does.
