Your beloved Venice Film Festival lineup has been announced.
Let me set the scene for you. Yes. Woke up this morning. We had a lovely dinner with friends last night. We did. And it was Wine Wednesday. So that was great. So I woke up. With like two very urgent ideas in my head. Okay. Number one was like, I think it's time to get my ears pierced and more on that. And number two was I need to check the Venice lineup right now. So before I put my glasses on, phone straight to the nose and maybe the lack of prescription lenses is, exacerbated my feeling of like, wait, where are the actual movies that are showing up at this festival? But Alberto, what happened?
What happened? I'm kind of relieved that you're not super defensive about this because this is not a great lineup.
Listen, I'm going to Europe on the company dime for a week. I'm doing great, but it's confusing. I mean, it's like, And especially the absence of the Netflix films.
Let's do a little autopsy here, because we can talk about the positives, and there are definitely some cool movies playing, so it's not like it's an absolute nightmare, but it is not what you've come to expect over the last few years, at least in terms of glitzy, big-ticket movies. There's not really... I would say there's not really any big-ticket movies here. There are a few awards contenders that are interesting. We've already talked about Ink, the new Danny Boyle film, which is very exciting, and it sounds like that film is going to end up playing... Venice, TIFF, Telluride, and New York. It sounds like that's the only big movie this year that's going to hit all four. That's what I've heard. So that one's good.
Wild Horse 9, which has been expected to go there, the new Martin McDonagh film, which, you know, I think in any other year is like, oh, that's a great third or fourth best movie at a film festival. It's kind of the big movie at this festival. Obviously, it stars John Malkovich, Sam Rockwell, Steve Buscemi. It's about, I'm not sure if they're hitmen or CIA agents, some combination of both. Could be both, yeah. Looking forward to that movie very much. I hope it goes to Telluride personally.
I would assume that it will, but... They didn't tell me.
Why is the Cinerama Dome reopening significant for theaters and the moviegoing experience?

This is probably the best news of your morning, right? This is the new A24 film directed by Lance Oppenheim starring Robert Pattinson as Chris Hansen from How to Catch a Predator. Yeah. That film opens very shortly after this festival. It was just dated for September 25th. I don't know what that means, but I thought it was interesting.
I'm excited to have Pattinson there. The summer, fall year of Robert Pattinson continues.
He's going crazy right now.
And I'm excited to see that film. We've both been anticipating it. I'm excited because A24 throws the best parties. So I'm glad they're going to be in the mix. Yeah. I mean, it is. It's thin.
It's thin. I mean, there are a few other notable things that I'm certainly interested in.
Oh, sure. I'm going to see all of these films.
Bunker, the new Florian Zeller film, which stars Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz. Werner Herzog's Bucking Faster, which we talked about, which stars the Mara sisters.
