I'll tell you why, because I've been running around like a lunatic, uh, mostly in London, uh working on Times Radio, having the time of my life, um, but it precludes me from being here with you on lunchtime, which we really enjoy doing, especially me. There's three of us in this studio Every week I have Statler, Waldorf and Kermit. And between the jigs and the reels we get on just fine despite their ongoing criticism and low level tension. Uh Tom T F. McGill Falric. Anyway, uh so Tom is here uh as well and um they just keep an eye on things and make sure that you're all doing okay, which is good. I haven't even asked you how you guys are because we were so busy talking about me. Okay, so what happens here is He just flipped the bird. I'm telling you, what is this business with? I saw young people doing photographs and when they get into group photographs, it's the two Birds being flipped, if you know what I'm trying to say. Did we do that? Okay, yeah, yeah. When I was young. So if you're on YouTube today, I'm gonna push you on to YouTube in particular t today because I've got a lot of visuals. Now, a lot of you will be listening to this uh as a podcast at some point, uh at which point you might want to veer back onto YouTube to have a look at it because um as I say, the visuals are pretty good.
So lots of bits and pieces to uh to share with you. Um first of all, we had great fun with Robert Harris on Times Radio last week, and he has written a book called Agrippa. He's back in ancient Rome. There was one point I said to him in the interview. By any chance did I recognise a now disgraced uh British politician? In your book. uh as one of the characters and he said My cenas, and I said, Yes. Mr Mandelson? Yes. So Peter Mandelson has my so Actually it's quite sad because Peter Manson was uh one of Robert is Rob one of Robert Harris's uh kids' godfather. They were very close 'cause he was a political correspondent and uh for a long time and they were friends. But uh I don't think so not so much now. Anyway, uh the book is Agrippa and I will be interviewing Robert Harris on Friday
Two weeks in the Town Hall Theatre, I think it is, in Galway, with my friends in Kenny's bookshop. Kenny family are the great book family in this country. They're just terrific, lovely people. Of course they are. They're from Galway. They've been there for uh I think over a hundred years between generations. But they just love books and love reading and they're just great. And they've asked me to interview Robert Harris on stage and I said to Robert Uh n Robert, do your homework in Ireland before you come over 'cause we did British politics as it you gotta know a bit about Ireland when you come over and I don't think he said he said he's ever been in Galway. So we're gonna go have dinner beforehand and then we will go on stage and uh we'll have a lovely interview.
The book is is just great fun. Okay, what else? I also had Don O'Ryan in studio on Sunday. Oh my god, his new book is Such a joy. It is the amount of great books at the moment. But if you don't want to read a big book, but you want to read a beautiful book, pick up Donald Ryan's, uh which is gorgeous. And uh it's just so beautiful. Every line is beautifully written, and it's a young kid telling the story of a sm of a family. And you just think, why does this feel so big? But yet it's only one small family. He understands rural Ireland beyond the M fifty, like no I like no other author living today. That's my feeling about it. And uh such a lovely fella. And he gave a lovely inscription in the book and I always love seeing him.
Uh so I wish him well and his Mrs. Anne Marie, lovely Anne Marie. Uh hope they're doing well. Um, because I'm travelling a lot Between um the trains and the planes and the automobiles.
