So tell me, how's things with you? Obviously a great week up at Lytham. I mean, we don't need to get into the golf just yet, but you played at Fairhaven on the Tuesday evening with Andrew. I know you mentioned that last week. Before we touch on the women, who won that match more importantly?
Well, again, very, very tight, very, very close, and very, very bad golf. I don't know if I should tell you this. Andrew didn't want to hit off the first tee because the first tee at Fairhaven is right next to the patio outside. What a fantastic clubhouse. Great golf course, such friendly people. And so he just dropped the ball down in the fairway, halfway down the par five opening hole. And I lost my drive. They said, oh, that's just gone in the humps down the right-hand side. You'll be fine. And I got down there and it was just absolute hay. So we didn't play particularly well. But the Badger did come up with a brilliant par, I must say it myself, on the 18. Should have been a birdie because I hit my second shot into about eight feet.
While Andrew, his second shot flirted with the starters or the halfway hut. conservatory and um and so i managed to win the last to to level it up so an honorable half and then we went off for a for a nice meal in in lytham and i had the um i had the sea bass there and andrew was andrew got big food envy and um so he went back there the next night on his own and had the sea bass, and it was called Bosco. Ian recommends Bosco in Lytham, and he said it was the best sea bass he'd ever had in his life. And I'd said that I thought Fairhaven was the hardest golf course I'd ever played in my life, given how badly I played. But I went back the next night, And Sarah came up. And so myself and Sophie Walker took on Katrina, Matthew and Sarah.
And I played okay. I shot 41 for the nine holes, which was decent. And we lost two and one. And Katrina, Matthew, let me tell you, is still a hell of a player. My goodness me, a touch around the greens was... was just sensational.
You never lose it. Major champions never lose it. Now, I was just thinking while you were speaking about, as Andrew doesn't like opening tee shots, and we should maybe get the listeners to email in because they will know more than I, but one struck me that there's a place called Flackwell Heath that has an opening tee shot, and the clubhouse goes to the right of the first tee for a good, I'm going to say, 20 yards. It's Anything off the hosel. That's a T-shirt that I know Andrew would most certainly hate.
It's not a par 3, though.
It's not a par 3. God, no, that would be unfair and dangerous. And the insurance of the Clover House, I imagine, would be through the roof. But, yeah, no, I'm sure listeners can email in with opening T-shirts that would strike fear into Andrew. In fact, in the week, I played at Wentworth with a guy called Stevie Carmichael. from Cardross up in Scotland and he knew Andrew he used to play Scottish boys golf with Andrew so we were reminiscing and he was telling me stories of Andrew he said he was from Andrew obviously he knew that Andrew was from Kilmarnock Barassi yeah nice guy nice golfer did he have good stories about Andrew he had some good stories about other players even tempered I don't know how well he knew Andrew but he certainly said he said Andrew was a good player yeah
