I told you guys yesterday that Ross Tucker is doing uh color commentary on football games as well as anyone in the game, Troy Aikman included. And uh I want to see if we can get uh Ross Tucker to play in some of our shenanigans like Kyle Brandt and everyone else by getting the Greg Cody catchphrases somewhere on Westwood One or CBS Sports, just a couple of phrases somewhere thrown into the broadcast. He may respect football too much to do this. We will find out together. He's also the host of the Ross Tucker football podcast. Thank you, uh, Ross, for joining us. And just off of the top here, uh when you listen to other broadcasts, who and and I want to put you on the spot here a little bit, who do you hear doing color commentary who you would say their enthusiasm is bigger and better than mine?
Uh they love football.
You know what? I'm gonna tie Dan, thanks for having me by the way. Uh I'm gonna tie two things together. You just mentioned Kyle Brandt. You guys probably don't even know this. We were college roommates. College roommates, teammates. We played football at at Princeton together. And the reason why I referenced that is what he would tell you is that he's never met anyone that loves football as much as me. And that what you're asking, Dan, it's impossible. The answer is nobody. The answer is nobody loves football more than me. And honestly, whether I'm doing a high school game or the army games or or whatever, I just love it. I always have. I think I always will. So I'm gonna say uh D, none of the above. So why do you love it that way?
You know what, man? I I wish I knew. My parents took me to a Penn State game when I was five years old. And keep in mind, Dan, my dad's 5'9 a buck 65. Okay? So I grew up in eastern Pennsylvania, Reading, Pennsylvania, an hour west of Philly. They took me to a Penn State game and I just looked around at the green grass and the uniforms, and I I was hooked immediately. And what's funny is, you know, I think like everybody else growing up, I wanted to play for Penn State and then the Eagles. But then when I was like 13, I looked at my dad and I thought, well, neither one of those are happening. So I actually wanted to be a writer, like Greg Cody and Dan Labotard. Like I wanted to write for Sports Illustrated or be a broadcaster for ESPN.
So I'm one of the weird. Guys, that what I'm doing now is kind of what I dreamt of from 13 to maybe 18. And all of a sudden I cut kept kind of getting bigger and better, and football helped me go to Princeton, and then much to my surprise, actually play in the NFL for a while. And I think my family and friends would tell you that God made me just good enough at football. like just barely good enough at football so I could get the broadcasting gigs I have now.
So when you talk about your enthusiasms, I want to see how it is that you're feeling about a particular thing involving the Rams. Okay. We're already in the portion of the season where the important quarterbacks are going down. No one can stay healthy. I believe that Matthew Stafford should be in the Hall of Fame just because he's always available and tough. Like I don't understand how Matthew Stafford is not one of the guys who ever gets hurt.
Well, and I'll give you another one. You're you're right about Stafford. I can't believe that Josh Allen never gets hurt. And I feel like I need to knock on wood or something because Josh Allen's like my favorite quarterback to watch. But Josh Allen, Dan, he gets hurt. Yeah, and I know because I've read stuff that you've written about Jason Taylor and stuff over the years. Like, Josh Allen gets hurt every year, and he just keeps Playing. Did you see the offseason press conference? I can't remember. I think maybe it was when the Bills traded for DJ Moore or they signed somebody to an extension. There, the Bills are having a press conference.
